What other documents do I need to bring to apply for the SSN? Besides passport with I-94? The SSA website says another valid form of ID but that's all my fiance has. Any one can tell me what's another acceptable form of ID? And also, does the K2 beneficiary have to be present? She's only two. I'm very confused here :help:

Thanks

What original documents do I need?

Immigration status

To prove your U.S. immigration status, you must show us your current U.S. immigration document, such as Form I-551 (Lawful Permanent Resident Card, Machine Readable Immigrant Visa), I-766 (work permit) or I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record). If you are an F-1 or M-1 student, you also must show us your I-20, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status. If you are a J-1 or J-2 exchange visitor, you must show us your DS-2019, Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status.

I would think this is sufficient. You probably went through this website....

Thanks

If you have a copy of her birth certificate with translation should they ask for the second form of ID. Most do not, but there are a few that do require one valid ID for identification and one for proof of age. Even though the passport has all the required information, there are a few people at the SSA that want to see the two seperate documents. We took in the wife's BC and never had to show it. YMMV.

Good luck,

Dave
