my wife is currently in the process of adjustment of status.

a little over 30 days ago she had the biometric appointment.

reading through this forum, it seems to me that in most cases people get their EAD issued approximately 30-45 days following the day of biometrics.

she has been offered to start working on september 1st, but they can't approve it until she receives the EAD of course. after september 1st, there's a good chance she will lose the job opportunity.

is there anything she can do? is there someone she can call or email to try and check the status of this? or how long it might take to get the EAD?

any help on this will be very appreciated. thanks!

While there is not much time left before september 1st, there is still a chance that you will get it. Your wife can call USCIS and ask for the status, but most likely she will here it is still in review. I would recommend to talk to employer and explain the situation, that you should get it soon, they may be willing to wait. As a side not after approval it takes about 10 days to receive the actual card, so speaking to that it might be hard to get it before your deadline.

I think that reading the forums I came across something that said that you can schedule an infopass with that place where she did her biometrics and they can issue a temporary work permit, not sure tho, can't really remember where I saw this or if it's correct, you can call and ask them or maybe someone here has more information.

Yeah it wouldn't hurt to call USCIS and explain the situation to them. Most of the time they will tell you to wait and that the case is within normal processing time then you will get Card in Production email couple days after like I did....

I think you can request to expedite EAD (based on the following, from USCIS site):

4. Please keep in mind that expedite requests for applications and petitions will be considered based upon the following criteria:

Severe financial loss to company or individual

Situations of extreme emergency

Humanitarian situation

Nonprofit status of requesting organization advocating the cultural and social interest of the United States

Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from an official U.S. Government entity, stating that delay will be detrimental to the U.S. Government.)

USCIS error

Of compelling interest to USCIS

so, first - call USCIS and make request

If not done, make Infopass and provide the documentation...

hi. just to follow up - we spoke with uscis on the phone and it turns out that unless 75 days have passed since having submitted the i-765 form, they won't really do anything. so we'll just have to sit tight and hope it arrives soon.

Calling USCIS won't usually get you far. The reason why someone suggested an infopass appointment is because they may be able to get you the EAD if it's urgent. Same goes for Advanced Parole. It's free to schedule and go to an infopass appointment. Bring proof of the job interview/starting date and if possible, that she might lose the job if she hasn't received EAD before then. It won't hurt your case to give it a go.
