So everywhere it says that my fiance (the uk citizen) will need my original docs that i sent with the I-129F.

What are they? My birth certificate? Passport? I'm a little worried to send those originals. Can u tell me what they are?

Thanks in advance!

Your proof of meeting such as boarding passes must be origina. Make copies of everything that you send. Follow the instructions in the guides above. I made color copies of my passport pages and birth certificate and my I-129 was approved.

Thank you! I don't know if you thought i was talking about the documents for the 129f packet but i meant for the actual interview. I sent all my original boarding passes for the 129f, did i need to send the originals to the interview? IF so, OH NO, because how would I get those back? :(

It is recommended not required. Once your I-129F is approved, the Gov't has basically signed off on those.

However, the proof of ongoing relationship "may" come up and those types of documents may be needed.

You are correct with not sending your passport etc..

If you really feel the need to, you can get "certified copies" of the original document. Being from UK, it is not as difficult as say a MENA consulate

Good Luck

So everywhere it says....

It doesn't say it on the embassy website, which is your official guide. This is what London tells you to bring. http://london.usembassy.gov/application_documents.html

They want your (UK person) documents to be original...birth certificate, police report, etc aloing with a photocopy of any original you want given back to you.

P.S. Anything your fiance sent with the I-129F is in London now and will be in the interviewer's hand when you have your 10 minutes with him/her.

They won't ask you to see the originals of the I-129F, you will see your file there in front of them while they flick through it.

Don't need certified copies either, as long as the originals are with you a simple copy is fine. They will check both and pile your originals aside and the CO will give them back to you at the end of the interview.

Sara and Nich-Nick are correct. Please remember that each embassy is different. The UK embassy only requires the documents listed on the website, which is 2 passport photos, your police certificate plus one photocopy , your original birth certificate plus one photocopy and I-134 plus supporting financial information. Of course that list changes if you have been previously married, were adopted or had any criminal history or lived abroad, but that's the basics for you.

They don't have to be certified copies either. (Just make sure it's the Long form Birth certificate!)

And don't forget the SIGNED visa fee receipt.

You do not need the USC petitioners birth certificate or anything else from the I-129F.

Officially you do not need to take any proof of having met or any proof of having an ongoing relationship as London does not request or require it on their documents list. However, London appears to be adding a little more scrutiny to their interview process at random, so it's a good idea to take a 'little' proof of ongoing relationship. Photographs, skype calls, text conversations, that sort of thing.

I had a lot of questions, and I did not need the additional evidence. Here are the questions I was asked at interview which will give you some idea of what to expect, (this is from my embassy review)

How long have you been together?

How did you meet?

How did you meet on twitter? (he wanted a little more info when I said we met on twitter and I told him that I had boked a flight to go and see her within two weeks)

How many times have you seen each other?

How many times have you been to the USA to see her?

How many times has she been to the UK if any?

What does she do for a job?

How long has she been in the United States? (L is a citizen by birth so I presume he was just checking to see if I had my facts right)

Where in the United States was she born?

(sorry forgot to add this in when I first uploaded this review)

I was also asked

What do you do for a living?

Do you have any travel arrangements?

What's the plan once you arrive in the United States?

What will you do for work once you arrive in the USA?

Where will you be living once you enter the United States? (he seemed a little taken aback when I said we were going to go apartment hunting after I get there)

He held up a photograph from the original I-129F submission and asked if the two other girls were in the picture were her sisters before asking me to identify them. I even named the Cat!

If anyone on this site is going to know, it's Nich-Nick, and while others from other countries often have great advice, generally when it comes to interview and medical it's best to ignore anyone but UK filers and those experienced with the UK process

Agree with consulate specific issues. But, this isn't as much consulate specific as it is clarification.

The "original" question was about the US citizen's "original" documents (such as passport and BC).

Nich-Nick definitely confirmed what was already said about the documents for I-129F will already be in file.

The US citizen does not need to send passport etc... nor even certified copies.. But if it makes them feel better, by all means go for it.

The most important thing anyone can do is follow the instructions sent by the consulate.

I know that the K1 guide here on VJ recommends that the petitioner send original documentary proof. Instruction #2 on what to send your fiancé, and that creates some questions in people's minds and they just want to do everything right.

No one answered incorrectly.
