My partner and I were considering filing for a K1 Visa, however, we seem to have a few doubts about the documents and procedures and I hope you guys can help us through this. I'll just make a list of things I'd like to know more about, hoping it won't look too hectic.

1 - My partner recently came to visit and upon arrival said she was in the USA to file for a K1 Visa. Unfortunately we failed to do so, but we are planning to wait a few more months before sending all the documents and whatnot: would it be a problem if she came back again BEFORE filing for it? Would she be able to visit AFTER I send the K1 Visa application? If so, for how long?

2 - Is the copy of my birth certificate supposed to be a certified one or can I make a photocopy of the one I have at home? How long does it usually take to get a copy of it? (I read it can take up to 8 weeks, not too sure how reliable that information is... so just wondering about your personal experience.) And how many copies would you recommend ordering, considering I would also need one for the marriage.

3 - Am I allowed to print out passport style pictures on glossy paper, as long as they fit all the requirements?

4 - If I wish to pay for the K1 Visa by making a money order how does that work? I'm a bit puzzled about payments and all of that... all the info I could find is right here. I just want to be 100% sure the money goes to the right place. Would it be ok if one of my relatives payed for our application, or would it have to have the name of one of us?

5 - Are copies of the ESTA documents a good proof to show she's been staying over at my place while visiting? We'd also plan on sending boarding tickets, copies of passport stamps, screenshots showing when are online conversations happened (day, month and time) and a few pictures, though I read those are qualified as secondary proof.

Thanks for the help/ attention and sorry if I sound a bit weird, but I just want to make sure I know everything and send all the right documents to avoid slowing he case down. We're just in the 'freaking out' part of this whole process I guess and again, I apologize if some of the questions sounded weird or maybe even a bit silly.

See this pinned thread about visiting: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/67796-yes-you-can-visit/

Never send your originals. Send a copy of your birth certificate.

3 - Am I allowed to print out passport style pictures on glossy paper, as long as they fit all the requirements?

Yes. You can even use sites like this to help: http://www.epassportphoto.com/

4 - If I wish to pay for the K1 Visa by making a money order how does that work? I'm a bit puzzled about payments and all of that... all the info I could find is right here. The I-129F instructions list who to make the check or money order out to. I do not think it matters who pays for it, so long as the fee is paid.

5 - Are copies of the ESTA documents a good proof to show she's been staying over at my place while visiting? What you list is fine for proving you have met in person within the last 2 years.
