To whom it may concern,

I would like to see if I could get some assistance with an immigration issue my wife Maria is having with the US Embassy in the Philippines. We have gone through the complete immigration process to include her interview back in December..I received a letter from the US Embassy in the Philippines recently in regards to documents that need to be submitted to the Visa Department to continue or conclude the visa application process. The letter stated that she needed to submit her medical again...although I knew it will be repeated after 6 months..her valid passport?..After she got the interview on Dec.16,2011 they said to my wife.."We don't need you to filled up or bring any documents..just wait until you hear from us"

When my wife showed up for her scheduled interview December 16, 2011, she submitted her passport and her medical exam at that time.. Her valid passport was issued to her from the Federal Department of Affairs a little over one year ago.

My confusion.... and maybe even my disgust, is that she has submitted these required documents to the interviewer at the US Embassy and has been patiently waiting since then. Why is it that we are receiving a letter now after 8 months requesting items that we have already submitted? Knowing that the medical exams are good for only 6 months.... this is frustrating me that she has been delayed for over 8 months for documents that she has already submitted and she may be required to complete a new medical exam due to possible incompetence or lack of security of sensitive documents.

I have made multiple inquiries through my local US Government Representatives as to the nature of the delay in Maria's immigration visa, but all they receive is that the embassy could NOT divulge any information regarding applicants status. Two of the responses were that NO documents were required from us, but that the paperwork was "flagged" for a specific reason and would require further investigation. My further frustration is that I am a US citizen, a current 27 year member of our US armed forces and already married to my wife. She is not a security risk and had been living in Japan for multiple years without altercations with the law. Maria travelled back to the Philippines in order to plan our wedding and to help me with the immigration process in order to get her here "legally".

If someone could please answer my questions and concerns, I would appreciate it. We have been going through this process for over 2 years now with no conclusion in site.... just a bunch of "red tape"

Sincerely,

Okay you say she had interview in december and they request further investigation. The form she was given at interview (probably a 221g maybe) what did it say?

Exactly what questions was she asked at interview and her answers?

Seems that she was put in AP(administrative processing) after the interview.

And well many have for months even years. And yes you have to get new medical and possibly new police certificate if they expire.

Its not about them rushing so your documents don't expire its about them investigating something they saw or think.

You have to remember they r strangers they don't know you two so have no idea whether you r good, bad, real or not.

Sorry for your long delay but just get them the documents they request so your love can get her Visa. You have a wedding to get to right. :)

Sincerely,

As far as possible incompetence, it is the government workers we are dealing with. (no need to add in the possible)

On the bright side, you have not been denied.

IMHO, give them what they need to conclude your Visa process. Don't let negative emotions such as anger slow you down from your goal.

There is a lot of red tape that we must go through. It sucks...!

Good luck..

I am unsure where her passport is - either in her hand or with the IV Unit in Manila (after reading your post 3 times)

however - they are asking for a new medical exam, since the last one has expired.

Your wife has been in AP for 8 months, and the US Embassy is finally getting around to attempting to issue her a visa - They seem to be finished with their investigation and they seem to want to issue the visa.

For Manila IV to complete this 'issuance' of the visa, they need a new medical. This is not uncommon for casefiles that have been in Administrative processing or Administrative Review, especially due to the lag time. That medical is outdated - she needs a new one.

So, getting the medical is easy. Can you please explain more about where her passport is, as of right now?

FWIW, the visa is glued INTO the passport, so Manila IV will need the passport, soonish. Perhaps they made a mistake in asking for it, if in fact they kept the passport at the interview.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Since it's been 8 months - do be warned - her PCC might have 'aged out' as well. Be prepared to get a new one..

Is the wife and the husband responding to this post? The English and grammar skills vary from one post to another..
