Got my first letter, form I-797c. I thought it would be cooler or more spectacular somehow. I'm confused cuz I thought it would mean I get a number to check the status. I don't see anything like that. What point do you have to get the number to check on their website?

It should begin with EAC or WAC

Look for a number that starts with EAC or WAC.

EAC = your case is being processed in Vermont.

WAC = your case is being processed in California.

What form?

If what you're talking about is the first notice of action you've received, that IS your NOA1 and that number should be on it.

It's OK, that used to confuse me too. I wish the dates were the other way around also.

Yeah my NOA1, I just realized that as I was looking at timelines. I was like damn I still need that. This is going to take a long #### time, I wonder if I can claim disability on emotional stress of waiting for a government agency. I'm sure it's been done.

Does your NOA1 have a EAC or WAC number? Your timeline shows Texas as your service center, but Texas does not process K1 visas. You need to change it to either Vermont (EAC) or California (WAC).
