Hi,

I am a U.S. citizen by birth that has lived in Singapore since 2006. I married a woman from Vietnam in April 2010.

I would like to apply for a I-130 (IR-1) for her.

Because I've lived and resided in Singapore since 2006, as well as filed all tax returns as a non-U.S. resident, what is the procedure for filing given that I am not currently in the U.S.? My job is here in Singapore.

Do I file as per normal the I-130? I have read here about DCF (not available in Singapore, but as a non-U.S. resident, I must file to the Chicago Lock Box).

Also, on the G-325A form, should I put in a permanent U.S. address (parents home), and then my current residences in Singapore as (temp) to establish residency in the U.S.?

Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks!

As you have been abroad for 6 years, it is probably easier to show you intent to re-establish residency than that you never abandoned it. So file with your Singapore address (this will also get the case fast-tracked), then show you intend to move back to the USA by evidence you've been looking for a job and home etc.

I am a similar situation, as far as living abroad. I filed the normal I-130 petition, and on the g-325A I put my Serbian address as current and my Mother's home as permanent in the states. Good luck
