You can always put a large amount of money in her bank accounts so she has liquidated assets but shes gonna need 60k

Not sounding good at all. She would need three years of tax returns. No one is going to hire a visibly pregnant woman even if she did move back (she would soon be going on maturity leave not to mention costing the place more through health insurance). Another issue you face is if she is actually living in Qatar with you she needs to establish a place of residency to show that's where you plan to immigrate. Did you all think any of this out before going to Qatar?

Wrong.

It is okay if she doesn't have a job. If she has assets like personal property, stocks and bonds, or real estate, she can declare that on her Affidavit of Support. Just be sure that she will provided evidences that she has and owns the assets declared. Also, you do not need to have 60K. You can look at the US poverty guidelines. From what I am seeing, since she is pregnant, you will be having a family of 3. Meaning, she has to have a gross yearly income of 19, 090 and gross monthly income of around 1800ish. If she doesn't have enough asset, you can try to have a co'sponsor.

I hope this helps.

This post is incorrect. The reason the previous person said 60K is because with liquid assets (like money in the bank), the embassy will only consider 1/3 of it as being able to support a person.

To the OP, a co-sponsor seems to be the best way to go. Best wishes!!

You are correct that they do not need $60K. The amount needed for a household of 3 is $71,586 if wanting to qualify based solely on assets. And that money would have to be in a US bank or the multiplier would be 5X (approx. $119K).

Thanks for your reply anyways we have concluded she gives birth here before moving back to US and that would be sometime next year,my questions are, will it be late or out of process from NVC when she will be looking for job and resettling in the state? and she made less last year because she had no job for 3 months, will a ceartain amount of bank account balance make it up ?

finally we have no co sponsor so advice on that is'nt helping.

I would look closer at the I-864 form and instructions to verify what is allowed.

You are getting bad advice as real estate is an allowed asset, you need to get an appraisal (actual paid for one) and provide a current copy of your mortgage statement showing balance owed.

Real estate and non-liquid assets cannot be used for Affidavit of Support. Only cash or liquid assets can be.

Sounds pretty tricky in your case.

You are wrong, the I-864 does allow for real estate to be used, along with a variety of other assets.

Giving bad advice isn't helping anyone.
