Hi everyone,

Everything has been going great with my husband and I. I cant believe it has already been 9 months. Time does fly. I am here because my husband still has had no luck with a job, he has applied and applied, he has had only one interview. I have tried to be as supportive as I can and help him as much as I can, but in the mean time I have had to pick up more shifts to help us get by so have been really tired and unsympathetic at times. He brought some money over which has helped, I figured about a year for him to find something he will be happy doing. Some days I wish he would just get any thing so he would have to get out of the house, but with his degree he feels that would be a kick in his face. I am very worried now, I don't know how long I can keep being supportive for him until I finally say " Babe, get a job, any job." Seems I am going to be carrying the weight for a while longer, I really just want him to succeed like I know he can. I hate feeling like I have know control. Please any one that has any suggestions, or advice or encouragement. We are in Florida, if this helps.

He has his MBA, so has worked alot with helping businesses in NZ, and also many other skills like machine engineering which he did prior to achieving his MBA. He is the most brilliant man I have ever meant. When he speaks it is worth listening, I just worry that our businesses here wont take the time to listen.

Have a profesional resume reviwer to review his resume, so they sell him on paper first. If he isn't sold on paper he will never get the chance for a phone interview.

Yes we did that, was $400 dollars :P But we figured worth it. I have him signed up to every imaginable sight online for jobs, and am thinking about signing him up for a cooking class so he has to go out and meet people lol

This is such a tough area in US now. Most people with MBA are working in restaurants right now.

His machine engineering skill may be worth pushing to the forefront.

not much work in florida, the pay is not that great,jobs in texas, no dekota,oil boom, jobs that pay good up north,or washington state,make a good resume. good luck

Thanks guys, Yeah we are definitely having a reality check, he has started to look more towards the skills work rather then his degree work, but only recently and not very happily about it. He was working for a large business funding corporation in Northland before he came here. Basically small businesses would come to him to get funding and consulting on what they had to do to make it work. I just know if he could get a break he would make sure they don't regret hiring him.

Contact a temp job agency or a job agency that work with contractors, they would be a great source of information. Check with the cruise lines for jobs related to machine engineering skill.

Yeah Boiler I know I am in the restaurant industry I work at two of them, my husband is 43 and has never waited on a person a day in his life. Even now you have to be a pretty 18 to 22 year old to get a good serving job. I hate serving table, People are cheap as heck now and days I promise, you work very hard for very little unless you bar tend which I know longer do because I want to be home with my kids. I hate both of my jobs, and the only good part about them is that at least i have a job. :(
