Depressed because ? Was his intent to live with his wife or just go to US ? Only thing he should do is leave US - this whole case screams fraud (arranged marriage ?) Fortunately is his position he has no way of legally living in US.

You ever thought about it, that maybe shescrewed him over & he wanted to make it work genuinely and had no other choice to live separate in the beginning and maybe still holding on to the thought to make it work? Maybe that's the reason why he didn't wanna leave?!? Judgmental times 10!

True

It does sound like he is heavily invested in moving to the US.

Sandranj pointed out: OP mis-termed the "union". It was not cultural/religious "arranged marriage"; it was an arrangement of visa fraud. The bride had multiple grooms. Even so, OP should be treated calmly - never a reason to bring anyone down for seeking legal advice.

My personal take: only the young man himself will choose his path. He has no ties in the US, which makes his choice easy. When I was unattached, I'd pick up and go with one suitcase - clear across the world - for a job/biz/academic prospect

The OP stated it was an arranged marriage. No need to assume anything else! She didn't have multiple grooms, what are you talking about?!? She has a boyfriend ... I am sure her husband didn't know about that.

You are just twisting the words of the OP, that's how this story gets totally lost!!!! None of the things you said can be assumed from the OP.

It was an arrangement married.

Not particularly a problem

They didn't love each other.

Not a requirement

After got in U.S they were live seperately.

Add to the above and it would seem difficult to come to a conclusion other than that it was for immigration benefit.
