Hi,

I have a friend who has been through the visa process and is over in the States. I believe he did the K-1 route whereas I'm doing the CR1 journey. Anyway, he told me that after he had his medical in London they called him as there where shadows showing which they advised where probably his nipples. My friend had to travel to London again for another x-ray but with where nipple markers (apparently, bent paperclips). He has advised me to ask them to use nipple markers when I go for my medical so that it minimises the chances of my having to travel back to London. Has anybody had any experience of this?

Sorry, I don't have anything constructive to contribute, but -- are you saying they put paperclips on his nipples during the x-ray?

If so, that is just a fantastically surreal mental image.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

haha well thats my initial thought that he wants me to go ask them to put paperclips on my nipples. I live in Newcastle so its a long trip to London just to get some paperclips stuck on me

The whole nipple and paper clip thing sounds very bizarre but I did have a similar situation in that my x-ray apparently showed shadowing. They told me it was probably old scar tissue but they wanted me to go back for a scan. I didn't have too far to go to get back to London but I didn't want to pay their prices or take another day off work so I persuaded them to let me have it done on the NHS. It was a stressful few weeks waiting for an appointment and then for the results but fortunately I had booked my medical as soon as I got my LND number so I had plenty of time. The scan results came back totally clear which was obviously a relief but also very frustrating. I sent a copy of them to the clinic and they passed my medical results to the Embassy who received them one day before my interview.

Having said all that, I think my case is unusual so I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.
