Hello Ya'll,

My Fiancee made an error, and legalized an old and outdated birth certicate. Her interview is schedule for Aug. 22nd, and the whole process of "legalizing" a Birth certificate may take three weeks or a little more.

My questions is, how soon should I call to reschedule her interview, if she is not able to get her Birth Certificate on time?

Thank you.

Is this region specific? You might find better help or responses in the 'Mexico, Latin & South America' forum under the 'Regional' threads.

Get a hold of the consulate, present the situation to them, and ask for suggestions. Let them tell you if a reschedule is necessary.

You might be surprised.. they might let you have the interview and present the correct birth certificate later on.

If possible, email them to keep written proof of whatever they tell you. Print the email and carry it with you to the interview (assuming they let you do what I just said)

That's not true. First to all, venezuelan birth certicate doesnt have an expiration date (You can ask any lawyer). The only thing that expires is the apostille (only 3 month)(apostilla) In that case she can have a new one that only takes a 3 working days and having it certify by the Venezuelan Foreing Relationship minister takes 2 days only!! I did it by myself 4 month ago and took me like a week. Of course, if you are paying to someone else to do it, will take the 3 weeks.

You can email the embassy explaining that you need to change your appointment because you dont have all the requirements yet, but the will change it for the end of sept or october. I dont think it worth it. Besides you have plenty of time to do it.
