When I was looking at how to do the Visa, I mentioned to a close friend about looking at Attorney's, and he said "No No No! You will be wasting your money, and it will take longer! - You can do it yourself!" He had brought in a Fiancee from Russia. So I bought a book on how to do it myself, then I found this Visa Journey community online. This community is fantastic, they have great guides and example forms, and the posting memebers give great advice I don't think an Attorney can match, anyway. That's my feelings.

Ok we have talked and are leaning towards the IR1/CR1. We like the idea that when her feet hit the US after approval it will save both time and money. Next question should I travel to Australia or her to the US to marry? And if she does come here how long will she be legal to stay in the US? Because if I travel there Id have to return to US in two weeks because of work. Cant lose my job now :D

Again, that is completely up to you. If she comes here under the VWP she can stay up to 90 days. If she has a tourist visa then it will be up to the date stamped on her I-94 by the CBP. As she would be coming here to visit her USC fiancé, it is definitely worth bringing as much evidence as possible that she intends to return home: return ticket, lease agreement, letter from her employer saying when they expect her back etc etc

Ok And thanks again

Hello everyone, as you may have noticed i am Rexnar's other half... i have been reading the forums here and was reading one about the size of the wedding, meaning how many guests... if we get married in the US there will be at the most 4 to 5 at the wedding so in this case i hope size doesn't matter....

 Now if it was here in Aus there would be heaps of guests so i guess we need to discuss that... i was just curious if it makes a difference is all

The amount of quest does not matter, it just needs to be a legal marriage.

No, it does not matter how big or small the ceremony is. It can even be done at the courthouse. It just needs to be a legal US marriage. Some people have a small ceremony or get married at the courthouse and then later have a larger ceremony or plan for one back in the foreign spouse's home country.

We had a courthouse wedding in the US and my husband's daughter was the only guest. We told her we needed her to be the witness, ring bearer, photographer, maid of honour, best woman, chauffeur etc etc :)

Amount of "guests" does not matter, but be careful. EACH state has a different requirement. The state I am getting married in requires at least 2 adult witnesses for the marriage to be legal. You need to be sure you look up the state requirements. Good luck on your journey.
