I have been reading about k-1 fiance visas for the past 5 hours and i'm understanding it for the most part...

however i have become desperate. does ANYONE have any information on co-sponsoring fiance visas?! I can't find the information i'm looking for anywhere!

i live in the u.s., my fiance lives in greece.

my mom and dad are willing to co-sponsor him.

how do we go about that?

after getting approved, I understand I am supposed to send him an I-134 affidavit of support. okay. so, despite not being able to fulfill the financial requirements, i still am supposed to fill it out and send it.

do my parents fill it out as well? So I send my fiance my I-134 and my parent's? Does my dad only fill it out, or do both of my parents have to separately fill them out? So I will send two 1-134s, or three?

I also read that I am the only one who is supposed to send an I-134, and I am supposed to wait for the consulate (or something) to send me an I-864..

what!??!

Or do I complete myself an I-134, and my parents complete an I-864, and send them all at once?!

I am SO SO SO SO SO CONFUSED.

please....anybody will you help me. this is not making any sense and after 5 hours in front of a computer my eyes are in such pain and now i have a god awful headache and wanting to cry.

please help..ARGHhhh!!!!!!

You as the petitioner completes an I-134 regardless of income.

A joint sponsor completes an I-134 as well using only their individual income information.

These will be needed at the interview stage.

thanks for your information, but that doesn't leave me with enough information to make me feel like 'i get it'

so we both fill out the I-134 forms, and send them. what about the I-864 forms??

I-864 is not usually used by the US embassy for K-1 visa, very few embassys will take these. They are supposed to be for adjustment of status in the USA after marriage.

Unless it is specific to Greece asking for them at the interview you should not need an I-864 for a K-1 interview.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

You'll be okay, you're amidst the best repository for K1 information.

I-134 is for the interview stage at the foreign enbassy, it holds no enforceable rights actually.

I-864 is for the AOS stage here in the USA, that's the biggie.

Of course you can ask questions but all of the information you seek are already answered in other threads. What works for me is to just run a search and read up.

Good luck.

You can only have one co-sponsor for the I-134. That co-sponsor must make enough to cover their own household size plus the foreign fiance at 125% of the poverty level or more. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

The parent with the most income would be the one to choose. For the sake of explanations, we will just say that is your father. You and your father will each fill out your own I-134 form. You will each provide your 2011 tax transcript, letter from employer and a few of the most recent pay stubs. Your father will also need to send proof of being a USC or LPR with a copy of his birth certificate, naturalization, copy of bio page from US passport, or front and back copy of green card.

After the K-1 visa is approved and you marry within 90 days of your fiance entering the US, he will need to file for adjustment of status. That will require an I-864.

Your fiance would bring the completed I-34 along with any needed documentation to the interview, you won't send it in! Other things usually sent with an I-34 are copies of your paycheck stubs, last years tax return transcript (you can get this free from the IRS online), and sometimes a letter from your employer listing your salaray and that you are employed.

The other form, the I-864, is the form you will use much later when you are adjusting the status after your marriage. It's similar except that that one is legally binding. For now, all you will need to worry about is the I-34 for you, and I-34 for your sponsors.

Thank you so much for replying! I just have one more question. I was working at JCPenney for the last year, however due to personal circumstances, I had to quit. What should I do about the letter?

Thank you everybody, all these replies seriously made me so happy!! I feel a lot better and not confused at all for the time-being. THANK YOU!

If you are currently unemployed, then you will state that on your I-134 and no need for a letter from an employer. You have no income, so no need to prove how much you currently earn.
