CENOMAR for US citizen?

Well, my fiancee is in the Philippines and we just went through all interview process and everything. I was not there because of work obligations at home, not to mention the money it takes to fly. Anyway she called the CFO office to see what requirements she needs when she goes to the seminar, and was told to bring her CENOMAR and also bring my CENOMAR. I figured no big deal so I set out to find where I could get one. To my surprise I found out that the US does not have any legal document like that. I'm really not sure what to do. Has anyone else been in my situation and what did thy do? Also does anyone know how long it takes to get the visa back from the embassy? PLEASE HELP!!

You can't get and they don't require a foreigner to have a Cenomar. If you got married in the Philippines, you would have gotten an affidavit from the embassy where you swear you're free to marry. If you've been divorced, do get her a copy of your divorce decree. Just the simple one or two page one that says you're divorced and when if you have it, you don't need entire agreement version, with all the financials and custody stuff unless its the only version you have.

Look out for the, Other documents as may be required by the counselors.

They certainly never asked that of us, and I've never even heard of that in the US before. I would tell her to go, and if they even ask, tell them there is no such thing in the US.

I have not heard of anyone ever being asked for a Cenomar of their fiance in the US!

There is no National Office recording Marriage in the USA like there is in the Philippines, therefore there is no place to obtain such a record or no record for that matter.

Hi Caryh,

I agree with you but I am just sharing this, when I asked my husband to get a certificate of no marriage, he was able to obtain a certificate from the court house in his hometown in California, it looked like this,

"CERTIFICATE OF NO RECORD FOUND"

(body)

Event: Marriage

Name:(name of US Citizen)

Period Searched. From: (date) To: (date)

It was notarized and signed by the assessor-recorder of the court house. We've presented this certificate to get the legal capacity from the US embassy here in Manila. This is as good as the CENOMAR.

=) Again, I am just sharing this

Hey guys thx so much for your input. My fiancee was able to reach the CFO yesterday and they said that they had made a mistake and all I needed was to bring my tax returns. It shows I'm single and its a gov. document. Again thx so much for your help. It's really nice to have a group of people goin through the same things we are. I can't tell you how awesome it is that I post something asking for help and within a few hours I get 6 responses. Fantastic stuff.

Regarding your previous marriage(s) If you have one or more divorce(s) make sure she has all decrees and is familiar with the dates. They asked her about my marriage and divorce date and reason. They also asked to see the most recent copy of Money I had sent her.

Here's what my fiance (now wife) took to the U.S. Embassy in Manila:

7 folders of any color - size 8.5 x 11

Then put a title on each one of them.

1. I-134 Affidavit of Support

2. Proof of an Ongoing Relationship [Emails]

3. Proof of an Ongoing Relationship [Postal Letters]

4. Proof of an Ongoing Relationship [Phone Bills]

5. Proof of an Ongoing Relationship [Monetary Support]

6. Proof of an Ongoing Relationship [Gift Pictures & Receipts]

7. Proof of Meeting

Here's what I Fed Ex'ed her:

- A colored photo copy of your latest NOA2 - Hold on to the original.

- A copy of the letter from the Bureau of Consular Affairs, it has your CASE number on it, Did you get that yet?

- A copy of the letter from the Embassy of the United States of America Manila Philippines, Did you get that yet?

- A complete copy of your entire I-129F petition that you sent to USCIS.

- A complete copy of your 2011 tax transcripts & W-2 statement.

- If you can get a letter from your employers accounting department on their letter head that shows your hire date, your position, your weekly hours, gross earnings to date, Or your last 6 months of employee pay stubs.

- Please provide last 6 months of bank statements from checking account.

- Send all complete certified copies of your divorce decrees.

Check out the website of the Philippine Embassy or consulate assigned to your state & you can get it through them.

Your fiancée can also have it done via a trusted relative back home who can get it for her.

It would have to come from the US Embassy,  not the Philippines Embassy. It a piece of paper USEM gives in place of a CENOMAR.

She stated the fiancé is from America.

That was confusing. There is no such thing as a CENOMAR that the USEM produces.

OP, it’s called the Affidavit in Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage. It’s just a form the USEM provides and the USC just fills up and signs himself. It’s just a self-certification. And yes, you get it from a US Embassy or Consulate.

CENOMAR is issued by PSA  (same place you would get a CENOMAR)

It can be ordered online also   https://nsohelpline.ph/

Some municipalities in the Philippines will not accept the affidavit from the embassy and require the CENOMAR
