hi VJ members, my wife has filed I-130 3 and a half months ago for me as she is US citizen. My passport will expire in 5 months from now. As far as i know is that you need at least 6 months valid passport at the time you apply for any kind of visa. if i renew my passport before the expiration, how will it effect my application? I am still waiting for my NOA2.

:help::help::wacko: :wacko:

Why don't you just renew it and keep a copy of your old one to show your previous passport? This is a simple problem with a simple solution. Try not to overthink it. If your spouse sent in the I-130 for you and your passport expires in 5 months, you should have plenty of time to get a new one before NVC asks for a copy of YOUR passport.

Thank you so much. I was just getting paranoid as the passport number changes as you renew it.

...your current passport would be ok during the time it takes at the USCIS, but make sure to have the new one for the second stage, at the NVC,

there you need to attach a copy of your new passport.

...that's the copy that will be sent to your country .. good luck!

2012-06-07 Case Completed at NVC/NVC Left THANK YOU JESUS!!!!

...wating for the interview appointment on July : )

even if he doesn't have it at the NVC stage it can be brought to the embassy stage along with the old one
