Still waiting on NOA1

I think the description says it all. The thing is, I've seen other people's timeline and they usually got NOA1 within a few days. I've waited seven so far (which according to processing times is roughly what I should expect). Do you know if it is really normal for people to wait 7 days and not receive notice that USICS has even received their documents?

Purolator delivered the document on June 7, 2012, but how do I know it got to the right people? Can you even call to see if they received it if you haven't received NOA1 yet?

I'm not really freaking out or anything. I would just like to know that we got the ball rolling in the right direction.

Thanks.

I wouldn't start sending up flares just yet. The USCIS will tell you it can take up to 30 days to receive your NOA1 (officially called the I-797C). Especially nowadays, when both service centers seem to be a little bit behind on sending out these notices.

Does your package have a tracking number? If so, it should say what date it was delived to Chicago Lockbox, and should show "signed for by <name>." If it does, I'd feel confident you'll get your NOA1 eventually.

Ya I figured I was jumping the gun a little. I guess I'll just have to wait patiently like a good little immigrant.

The tracker states that it was delivered on June 7, 2012 to a person in Chicago named Bucio. It looks like their first name starts with an A and has a t in it. Possibly Antonio? I dunno. Let's call them A. Bucio.

Have a good one!

Another good indication that they recieved it is have they cashed your check yet. I noticed the check cashed before I got my letter.

Perhaps. I sent a US money order from my bank. I wonder if they just didn't see my e-notification form or something. I read it afterwards, and you're supposed to put it as your first page, and I think I put it right after the I-130. I dunno. Maybe I'll give them a call just to see if they received it.

I'm on hold with USCIS. They escalated my inquiry for some reason. Maybe they received it but there was a problem? I'll let you know when I find out.

Theya re saying they didn't receive the application. That's weird. I sent it by Purolator. They said to check with the bank to see if the money order was cashed. I'll check with TD right now.

Okay. Turns out I need 10 days before they can search for me to see if my case has a status yet. So, I'll wait until Monday. Everything should be fixed by then, but if not, I'll see what's going on at that time. Still not going to panic. I think the fact that they cashed my money order proves that they entered into contract with me to adjudicate my case. It's possible they just haven't got around to entering me into the system. They'll look at it on Monday if I still haven't received notification.

Thanks, all.

Hey, maybe if they lost it all I can send in another I-130 with a copy of my previous papers and proof that they received everything (Purolator signature from Bucio and money order receipt showing that it was cashed), and possibly get an expedite if I request it based upon USCIS error. It could work out in my favor. Not counting on it though. They are probably just slow on my I-130.

The fact that they have cashed the money order means everything should be fine, give it another ten days and then send another package with a copy of the money order.

Ya, well, I'll call them on Monday first because they said I could after 10 days. If they request everything again, at least I have copies of everything so all I have to do is just copy it over to new documents. It's just a pain is all. And it costs money that I'd rather save.
