Belief In God Plummets Among Youth (CHART)

The younger generation is abandoning God in droves.

A new survey by the Pew Research Center finds that belief in the existence of God has dropped 15 points in the last five years among Americans 30 and under.

Pew, which has been studying the trend for 25 years, finds that just 68 percent of millennials in 2012 agree with the statement "I never doubt the existence of God." That's down from 76 percent in 2009 and 83 percent in 2007.

Among other generations, belief in God is high and has seen few changes in recent decades. Between 81 and 89 percent of older generations say they never doubt the existence of God, although the older the generation, the more likely they are to believe in God.

The chart below reflects the Pew survey's latest findings.

The results suggest that a new movement of atheist or agnostic thinking during the the last decade — spearheaded by high-profile authors like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris — is steering younger people away from traditional beliefs long held by their parents.

The trend was also reflected in declining numbers of millennials who agreed with the statements "Prayer is an important part of my daily life" and "We all will be called before God at the Judgment Day to answer for our sins." Answers to those questions also didn't change much among older generations.

IS this a hoax?

Q: "I never doubt the existence of God"

It's rather stunning that 68% of those asked would claim they "never" doubt.

Never? I guess if I were to answer honestly I couldn't say I have "never" doubted... the existence of God.

They've been running the same study for 25 years.

We understand why you have doubts. You've never heard from this imaginary Male Being. There is no evidence for Him. It is counterintuitive to believe that He is so Divine that He is watching all 1 million different species of insects, 100,000 different types of spiders/scorpions, 320,000 species of plants, 31,000 types of fish, and out of the pathetically small amount of difference between mammals (only 5,500 different species) we are the chosen one, His absolute favorite.

With 7 billion of us roaming the planet, the overwhelming majority (about 70% of us) not Christian! And in the 30% that claim to be Christian, the majority are Christians in name only. So at the end of the day when 150,000 people die at least 80% are lit on fire and sent to hell in the most loving way by the most loving Male Being ever to live! Makes perfect sense and this is a perfect ending/beginning to our pre-determined destiny of real life in hell/heaven where time goes on forever.

And of course God did speak, but that was thousands of years ago. And the evidence of that can be found in the bible.

You know, brilliantly wondrous things like:

Psalm 137:9

New Living Translation (NLT)

9 Happy is the one who takes your babies

and smashes them against the rocks!

Exodus 12:29-30

New International Version (NIV)

29 At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. 30 Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.

2 Kings 2:23-24

New Living Translation (NLT)

23 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. "Go away, baldy!" they chanted. "Go away, baldy!" 24 Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them.

And finally words of infinite kindness and love from the One and Only Jesús, Our King of Kings, Song of Songs, Gay of Gays, a Son that is also His Own Father:

Luke 19:27

New Living Translation (NLT)

27 And as for these enemies of mine who didn't want me to be their king—bring them in and execute them right here in front of me.'"

I used to love Royalists in the UK

When we had a day off for Diana's funeral, I had a superb day motorbiking in the Dales on empty roads and I had fish and chips in Grassington

Similarly, that was the one good thing I could say about Christianity - less busy roads on Sunday

Since the age of reason dawned, the roads are as busy as Saturday

Would the gullible please get their faith back and get back into the churches where they won't clog up the roads for the rationalists

Seriously, waiting for god to renounce his US Citizenship and oversight of the Marine Corps is like waiting for Mitt Romney to stop dying his hair
