Hi VJ,

My American Fiance and I received the NOA1 notice just over 2 months ago. From what I have read, it seems like the average waiting time for the visa is 5-9months. I would just like to know if there is stuff we should be doing whilst we wait for the NOA2? We are just sitting and waiting but don't know if we should be doing anything else in the process.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Jon K - it would make it easier for our members to give you some advice and suggestions if you would let us know what country or Consulate you are dealing with as some of the things you can do before hand are country specific.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You will need a Police Certificate. It is valid for a year so you could start that process: http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

You could also make sure that your vaccination records are up to date. Given your age, you have probably had MMR - that's the one most people need to get done. But it's worth checking everything is up to date and if not getting your GP to give a booster and then getting a printout of your record. If you have to have them done later it will cost you a lot more.

Good luck with your journey.

Order the long form of your birth certificate if you don't already have it. Make sure the USC tax returns are up to date for the I-134 form later. Organise a cosponsor if you might need one...

Thanks very much for the help.

We have already done the I-134 and my fiances mother has agreed to be the cosponsor so is it right that she also need to complete the I-134 or does she complete the I-864?

Regarding the police certificate, I don't have any police records or convictions etc, do I still need to get a certificate to say I have no records?

Thanks again, really appreciate the help.

Yes, you still need a Police Certificate.
