Hi all. Here is my situation. I have been staying in Indonesia on a social visa sponsored by my wife since August, 2011. On the I-864 it asks for my mailing address, and my address of residence. The mailing address I know to put my home address in the US, but for the residing address, should I put the address here in Indonesia? I am here temporarily only for the purpose of being with my wife until her visa is complete. I am not a resident here and am on leave from my job in America while I'm here. NOTE: I lived with roommates before in America and the lease finished while I was here, so I will be residing with my dad in America when I get back. Should I put my dad's address or the Indonesian address? I already included a letter explaining to them that I am staying here so there isn't any confusion. Please let me know guys, thanks in advance!

If you are legally residing there, put the place you are having coffee each morning. If not a legal resident, then dad's would be the one.

Mailing address isn't the same as residential address. They don't have to match.

Ok, the word "residing" was the word that threw me off. I am legally here but just as a spouse of an Indonesian citizen. My wife can sponsor me to stay here for up to a year, but I am not permitted to work or drive here at all. I wouldn't think I would be considered a resident but more of a long-term visitor. Does that sound right to you?

EDIT: Actually I re-read my visa description and I am a "sponsored resident" of Indonesia, so I guess my address here would be better. Thanks for the help, again.

I would stronly advise that you use your indonesian address as it will be processed quickly through USCIS. From what I'm reading, when you file the petition and all correspondent address is abroad, the file is completed within 2 weeks, versus the excruciating wait of 5 months if you used an American address.

Good luck!

Mudasirik, I already waited 5 long months for the i-130, I am at the visa center stage now. haha uda lamat di Indonesia :D I did include a letter that told the USCIS I was living here with her, but they didn't speed it up at all, just had to wait wait wait. But at least they accepted it lol.
