Absolutely elated!

Thank you everyone for all the great advice along the way, we really couldn't have done it without VJ and all of you, you're awesome!!! :D

My next question is we sent the choice of agent email but I'm a bit worried. I live abroad with my husband (beneficiary) and my mother is a joint sponsor. We have all of her tax info that's required but now I hear I will need mine too??? I thought since my income didn't matter I wouldn't need to provide a W2 or tax transcript. I've been filing abroad but haven't gotten any confirmation. Stupid me, I thought that was normal since I didn't owe any US taxes. I'm now on hold with the IRS for 30 mins to see what the story is. Please someone make me feel better and say that this isn't so! Just another bump in the road eh?

Yes you need to fill out the form and provide the supporting evidence you are required to, you are the sponsor. Even if you have a joint sponsor you are required to do the form and supporting evidence.

yes you have to do the i 864 and send tax returns along with it. And don't forget you need to be domiciled in the US and provide proof of domicile before they will grant a visa. Good luck :)

Thank you guys, just thought my income in Ireland was irrelevant, hence why I needed a joint sponsor? I read on here that I was just to put $0 as my income, so I still have to provide a tax return then?? :bonk:

I thought that if you were not required to fill it since you have low income ($0) you just can put an explanation stating why you didnt fill out taxes. That's what I did.

We also have a joint sponsor, that is going to provide all the taxes information, but my main sponsor (my husband) just put it the explanation.

The OP does not have 0 income she has income and was planning to lie on the forms. Which is a bad idea.
