Hi, I am 23 and a citizen of India.

My sister is a PR living in Illinois.

I am thinking of pursuing my masters in the US.Is it possible that she could sponsor me?

She got her PR in January this year.

Sponsor you for what? You would apply on your own for a student visa after being accepted to the school you want to go to.

She cannot sponsor you for a greencard, only citizens can and there is a long waitinglist (10+ years).

She can write a letter saying you could stay with her for free if you apply for an F1 student visa.

Sponsor for green card.

I was not aware of the conditions.I was looking for an alternate for F-1.But I think her writing a letter for letting me stay is the best case.

F-1 student visas are expensive and you must qualify on your own, having a sister that will allow you to stay for free will carry little weight. First you must apply, be accepted, and show the school financial self support
