I had my interview on April 9th, 2012.

Approval that same day and placed in the oath scheduling queue.

I actually just got back from my infopass appointment today, since I haven' t received an oath date yet.

As expected, a complete waste of time...

Just received the same old message that they have 120 days to schedule the oath and that they cannot do anything about it.

I know that there are lots of people with an interview date that was later than mine that did already receive their oath date.

I am a NOVA resident, no name change and still waiting.

I was in the Fairfax office with my wife for her interview on May 24th 2012. She passed with no problems.

After passing the interview, which went pretty much according to the script that she prepared for, there was a question about the oath ceremony. Because of where we live in Virginia, the officer wanted her to sign special forms agreeing to an oath ceremony at Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's home) on July 4th. My wife didn't understand this and asked for me to be called in - so I got to meet and talk with the officer a bit (while also tugging along a 6- and 2-year-old). We could not agree to the July 4th oath ceremony because of other plans. So the officer told us that my wife would be sent an assignment letter for another oath ceremony in Charlottesville, VA on another date. That letter has not arrived yet and there has been no change in her online status.

To add to the uncertainty, the officer forgot to give my wife a N-652 form which I understand describes the results of the interview. But the officer did indicate verbally that the interview was passed. I saw most other people coming out of the interview area holding a piece of paper which I expect was this form.

So it was a bit of unexpected excitement to be called by the officer - I didn't know what to expect had happened.

When preparing for the interview (N-400 based on more than 5 years residency, not based on marriage) I ordered tax transcripts for the past three years which showed us filing jointly. My wife said the officer noticed these in her "preparation" folder and asked to see them. She said the officer appeared to relax a lot after checking our tax transcripts. So even though they are not supposed to be required for the interview based on 5 years residency, I recommend getting them as preparation.

Good luck to you all on the oath ceremony - I don't know why they did away with the same-day process. Too much work I guess.....

Hmm - well I had my interview last July in Fairfax and because I missed the ceremony that day (my interview was in the afternoon), they assigned me to one a week later. I left my interview after having passed with an Oath Letter which the IO had printed immediately after.

2 sets of friends also became citizens in the last 6 months in Fairfax. Both couples had morning interviews and both had same day Oath.

I wonder if perhaps they've had some changes in how they do the Oath lately?

Wife passed interview on Jan 30th. Officer seemed to think we had a chance to get into the February oath ceremony. Not. We are now past 120 days. Now we are also outside normal processing times: our priority date is two weeks before posted processing date for Washington Field Office (WFO). Called once in March and got an email response from WFO saying they are still doing the background investigation. After our case went outside normal processing times (about a month ago), sent an e-request from USCIS website; got another email from WFO saying that they were still doing background investigation. Contacted Senator's office; they sent us a letter saying to give them 30 days to find out what's up. Wife is doing a name change, but still, . . . 5 months? It's now been more than 11 months since we applied. I have some hope we may be hearing soon about the July oath date.

well............. when i had my interview on 29th may and i passed the interview but didnt get same day oath, i asked the Officer that why you guys dont have same day oath ceremony?

he said because of elections in november we are scheduling more than 500 interviews everyday and we will start saturday hours too. now when we schedule more than 500 people for interview everyday, it is really hard for us to produce that many certificates so quickly. that is the reason that we schedule big ceremonies later when have all the certificates ready

my status was changed on may 5h that we placed ur case in line to schedule for oath ceremonies,,,,,,,,,,,,, still waiting

progress, of a sort. The explanation is interesting - guess they want more dedicated voters :)

hello every one.........

my online status changed today they schedule me for oath ceremony and sent letter in the mail.

gud luck to all of you also. hopefully you all will b next.

Congratulations! That's great! Did you get the letter yet?

We heard back from our Senator; the USCIS told them that the case is approved and it has been "sent up for reverification"--whatever that means. (No change to online status noted.) How badly we want to hear this coming week! If not, it looks like it won't be until the August ceremony (remember we're doing the name change, which in N. Va. is only once per month). We are already 140+ days past interview. What they told the Senator's office is that for a name change, they have to run two name checks: one on the maiden name (before the interview), and one on the married name. That's why it takes so long; they send the married name to the FBI, but only after you pass the interview. Why they don't run both names at the same time is beyond me.
