We got our visa!

Interview was rather grueling; some people were held up for more than an hour.

But most got their visas. Almost everyone came together with their s/o. Some guys came alone, and one guy was denied. I think because he had some criminal past.

Anyone has questions, feel free to ask!

In what way was it grueling? When you have the time, tell us more of your experience. For now, take some time to celebrate.

Hello everybody! I'm new to the VJ forum, and about to start my own journey. I am an Italian citizen and live in Rome - my fiancé is the USC, and lives in the DC area. Today he got official notification of his divorce, so we're free to pursue the K-1 visa, which seems to be the quickest option.

Hopefully I'll be able to rely on people's advice in this thread. For the time being, I have a very simple question, regarding the photos my fiancé has to send with the petition. Where would you recommend me to go to have them taken, and what should I ask the photographer to do (if anything)? Thank you in advice for your help!

Here's what you need to know for the photos:

http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/forms/photo-it.asp

Just print out that page and take it to a local photographer. My husband went to a photo shop underground at the Metro station in Milan. I'm sure you can find a similar shop in Rome that does custom photos to meet the requirements. The machines for Italian ID cards make the wrong size. It didn't cost much and was fairly quick. He just walked in to get the pictures taken and then had to go back to pick up the prints a few days later. I imagine there are also others who will do instant photos.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for the information! There is a photographer's shop in the street where I live, and the pics are usually ready after a few minutes. I'll have them done ASAP, and then send everything to my fiancé in the US.

Welcome! Where in the DC area does your fiance live? We live there too! Feel free to PM or get in touch any other way if you need anything!

Thanks a lot! My fiancé lives in Alexandria, VA, though he was born in Portland, Oregon. We are planning to move there some time in the future, once I get there and settle in. By the way, tomorrow I'll be sending him my letter of intent, filled G-325A form, picture and evidence... When he gets that, he'll send the petition to the VSC. I really can't wait!

Just got of the phone with my fiancee and he got his visa in Naples!!!! It took from 8 am until 3:30pm for anyone who was wondering. Any advice on how I can help with his transition? I think I am totally ready but I would like to hear from anyone, especially some Italian nationals, who have already made the move to the US.

Hi Breezy,

Just popped in myself and found your message, already three weeks old. Congratulations on the baby on the way. I'm still in Italy. Can't really imagine that I'll miss it, but I live in Milan, so that's a bit different. Anyway, we'll be here through the end of the year. We got called for an interview but asked to delay until my husband's work transfer is ready. We'll aim for an interview sometime this summer. I still use your posts in putting my docs together. You've been a great help!

Best wishes!
