Yahhoooo!!!

We filed back in November, and we FINALLY got the NOA-2 on Tuesday! Thank God!

I just had a couple questions now.

First, is all the paperwork that they're going to send us to fill out next on this website? Or just some of it. I'm going to visit my fiance in the states next week for then entire month! We're gunna fill it out together.

Second, what kind of fees are going to be charged to us from now - when I move down? I live in Canada, and will be doing the medical exam in Toronto. Do I have to pay for this, or is it covered under the Health Insurance?

And last, when should I book the medical? Like I said, we just got the NOA-2 two day ago. The website says to call and book the medical as soon as I get an interview date, but I'm worried if I get an earlier date, I won't get a medical appointment on time. Is it acceptable to make an appointment for the medical exam for next month if possible, and bring the results to the interview, even though I don't have the interview date yet?

Any help is appreciated. I'm so excited for everything coming up.

Thank you for all the help, VJ'ers!

You may want to ask to have this moved to the Canada forum so those who have gone through the process can answer your questions. The additional documents needed for the interview process can vary by country.

Congratulations! I can only answer a few of your questions, but here is what I know:

1) Not sure about the paperwork... I have downloaded packet 3 from the Vancouver embassy website, and I am quite certain that's all that needed for an interview there. I'm not sure if it is the same for Montreal.

2) You will need to pay for the medical on your own. In Vancouver, it is $300. You will also have to pay $240 at the interview. Once you're married, you will have to pay $1070 to adjust status from fiance to spouse.

3) Not totally sure about this, but I believe the medical results are valid for 6 (or is it 12???) mos, but you'll want to try to have your AOS fall within that time frame too. As far as I understand, if your medical in Canada is still valid when you file for AOS, you can avoid having to pay for a second medical exam.

Can anyone confirm this, so I can have a better understanding also?

Thank you!

Here's a link to the Montreal K1 guide: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/327503-canada-immigration-k1-guide-for-montreal/

And specific info about Packet 3:

Waiting for P3 to physically arrive can be a fruitless task. Many people never get it, sometimes only the petitioner gets it, sometimes it shows up months later. If you want to expedite the process, don’t wait for it. There’s nothing including in Packet 3 that isn’t available on Montreal’s website: http://montreal.usco...ument=visa_pkt3

Since even the website can be a little confusing, this is what you send back (all forms available above at Montreal’s website):

Signed Checklist

DS-160 x 1

DS-156K x 1

DS-230 x 1

DS-156 x 2

US style passport photos of the beneficiary x 2

Many have found it helpful to also include a very brief cover letter summarizing the contents, providing an email address and re-iterating the MTL case #.

(If you are doing a K2 as well, don’t forget the forms for them!)

Thanks for the help everyone, greatly appreciated!

I live in Barrie, Ontario. Is it for sure my interview will be in Montreal? It's closer to me than Quebec is. Do they send you to the closest place for the interview? Or is there a chance I'll get stuck doing it in Vancouver?

I believe you had to enter the embassy you would be going through on your 129-F... What did you put there? As far as I know, you can only do interviews in Vancouver and Montreal... Canadians living in Ontario and east of there go to Montreal, while those in Manitoba and west of there go to Vancouver.
