The CR1 and IR1 are quite different for checks since you will be coming into the us as an immigrant and getting a green card along with your SSN and benefits to actually live in the US with your wife. So the checks are quite different. It takes time but i'm sure in another month or two it will be finished.

I'm surprised your wife not call DoS hotline and inquire.

What's up ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

then the casefile is still with the IV unit.

Sorry, yer in for a wait, as the casefile is in a new queue.

There are others in this queue, before you.

You must wait.

Have your wife check in with the DOS line every Friday.

Since you've been put on AP frequently, you know the deal - they aren't giving you the visa until they are done with AP. It could be weeks or months, sometimes even longer.

Also, if you have a name that is giving hits on any of the databases do not be surprised if this takes awhile.

And, don't be surprised if you get extra questions in secondary inspection when you finally use the visa. Or, anytime you go through the border. My husband goes to secondary EVERY SINGLE TIME. Evidently, there is a suspicious guy with the same name who spends a lot of time in Somalia [we are guessing this part as the questions usually revolve around whether or not my husband has traveled to/from Somalia].

I am in similar situation. First time I got my F1 visa without AP in 1998. Second time AP in 2008 for H-1B took about a month and this time CR1 stuck in AP for close to 3 months now. As everyone mentioned above, embassy will not help you other than standard reply. Ask your wife to call department of state and the person might be able to give you more details as to what is happening in your case.
