My husband is green card holder.

He has applied for me. My pd is august 2010

My i 130 was approved on dec 2010

Now my case is in NVC , after i130 approval my hubby submitted all forms.

Every tyme i call nvc they said visas are unavailable and wait for priority date to be current..

Since then i am waiting.... Now it has been almost 2 years that i m waiting for my priority date to be current and my interview call.

Some one told me that it takes 5 years for visa??? Is it true??

As i m in f2a category..

Is this seriously take 5 years to complete this process?????

The current PD is at Jan 1, 2010 for all except Mexico (Dec 8, 2009). If things continue the way they are currently, you will be in the US by Dec 2012. At one point it use to take more than 5 years for F2A category but not now. To keep abreast with what PD is being processed visit this site around the 8th of every month for the updated visa bulletin.

No one can be 100% sure because the PD movement is kinda unpredictable and that's why I said if the PDs' pace remains the same you should be in the US by Dec 2012. What I forgot to say is that if you're from a country that practices administrative processing very often, you may have a delay (by several months) in when you get your visa which could be the case with Pakistan.

There are F2A tracking threads on this site. Folks on here and here are in similar situations as you (or even the same) and should be able to answer most/all of your questions. They are always welcoming to new persons.

As of the moment, the current waiting time for F2a is now average of 2.5 years. That covers the entire processing. Keep faith that your PD will be current before this year ends. :-) cheer up!

Basically, the wait time for our category (F2A) is around 2.5 to 3 years,...

Depending still on the current trend of 1.5 months per visa bulletin,

waiting is hell, we've been there, and all of F2A are in the same boat,

the only consolation you can have is that once your priority date becomes current,

its all downhill from there. Be thankful that you are under F2A, not F2B,

in which it has very little movement the past years, which is pretty frustrating already.

Good luck and just find things to keep you busy,..
