How did you handle DS-230 and Police Report

Well I know as of yet Nigeria is not on list to do the NVC forms online. So was wondering how others handled the DS-230 signature from Beneficiary and police report? i mean did you just wait until NOA2 came and they got that and sent all to you (but the DS-230 Part II). Or you had the DS-230 ahead of time or what?

It's just this unreliable mailing system in and out of Nigeria. I know the only way he can send would be DHL. But just wondering as I wait in the USCIS queue. Thanks

Me and my husband received our NAO2 within 2 months of sending in petition, so we were not prepared at the time to do I864 or DS230 so it was like a month later that I did I864 and then another about 2.5 months until we did the DS230. I filled out the DS230 for him and when I went to an already planned trip to Nigeria, I had him sign it then. When I returned, I posted everything out. In your situation, if you don't have any trips to Nigeria planned in the near future, you can fill the DS230 now, scan it to your husband so he can print it and sign it (in blue ink) and post it back to you. If you dont receive it within a couple of weeks, he can reprint it and sign another one and send that one. If you want your case to move right along, you can do this ahead of time so when the time comes, you can just send it off. If you go this route, I would not have him date it though as I think that once the DS230 is dated, it is only good for a certain length of time (I am not 100% sure of that though). You can date it for him just before you send it out.

Regarding "unreliable mailing system in and out of Nigeria".

Based on my 100% success rate of mailing 5 separate items (package, postcards, documents) to Nigeria in the past few weeks and via USPS of all places, I will have to disagree. I've also received 3 separate packages from Nigeria.

Give USPS a try, include the recipients phone number on the outside of the package.

YMMV.

I emailed a blank DS-230 form to my hubby, he printed several copies (about 5), signed-no date, and mailed them back to me, but only when he had his birth certificate and the police clearance available for mailing at the same time. Remember the police clearance is only good for 3 months. It seemed it took a little more time for him to get his birth cert so we were delayed about 4 months or so  When he mailed the items back to me he used EMS Speedpost (this carries a tracking number just like our USPS). EMS SPEEDPOST-NIGERIA

I somewhat agree with Iyawao Ijebu...although I haven't sent anything expensive, I have sent sensitive documents (visa stuff). This was also through USPS's Express International (and it's A LOT cheaper than UPS/FEDEX). He received it in a somewhat timely manner (around 14 days, I think it got held up in customs). My hubby, however has sent me numerous items (again visa stuff) via the EMS mentioned above...I received that within one week via our USPS. I guess even though we were successful sending each other mail, I was chicken on sending the big items

What up Dee! You know I tell you how it is and what we did. I scanned my copy of the DS230 to my husbands email inbox. He then printed it off and signed it. He mailed it right back to me... Thru EMS Speed Post like FEDEX. It got to me in like a week. AS far as the police report...you wont need that until you have gotten the "Visa Application" they open the link for you after you've paid the fee. It gives you a list of what needs to be sent in. YOU gather all of it from him meaning he will need to mail everything to you again..yes again you put it in a package and mail it to NVC from here. Once they recieve it you case will be closed and you get your interview date. The DS230 has to be sent back first. If he can go to a cafe and scan it back to your inbox that would be great. We had issues but that was then. Dee you will have to wait until your NOA2 is completed.. if you send it in before time you will just have to do it again. Practice your patients not jumping the gun I know you love your husband but everything in Gods timing so that the NVC has no reason to try to reject what you send. IN constant prayer for you dear sister !

I know I know this subject of mail and Nigeria has been discussed a million times here. I have mailed 1 small package a cell phone and it got to Port Harcourt just fine. Letters not so much. Took 6 months for 1 the other 14 never made it so we stopped. His to me nope never happened.

I have had too many friends having packages never arriving, Documents taken. It's very said. But I have a package now going just 1 lb. Lord please protect that thing. :-)

Thanks though. Its good to know someone stuff is getting there.:)

It wouldn't be wise for us or anyone else going through Nigeria to get police report ahead of NOA2 approval. It's only good for us 90 days. And it only takes no more than a day to get so that's no issue. Just all this signing back and forth and such. Goodness. And seeing he has to get a police report just seems getting that sent with birth certificate and signed DS -230.
