What was your status before you became an LPR? Did you get your SSN before or after you became an LPR? Since not everyone who has an SSN is required to register, I wonder if you obtained your SSN while you were in a non-registration status. Perhaps the SSA never sent your SSN to the selective service. In that case, you should take your LPR card to the SSA office and update your record so they know you are now an LPR.

Also, if you recently became an LPR, it may take time for the selective service to receive your record.

Go to the post office and pick up the form to mail it in. We had the same problem with 1 of our older two boys.

Greeeet

what do you mean by LPR?

I become permanent resident the first time I come to US without restriction or conditions.

For receiving my record on the selective service, may be not yet received because I m resident from few months ago.

Ontarkie,

I think it s right to go to the postal office and mailing the form, thanks for your advise.

LPR means lawful permanent resident, i.e. green card holder. Sounds like the Selective Service hasn't received your SSN yet, so I agree to mail the form in manually.

I have one question more about joining the military service ,after the registration ,It means automatically you will join the military or there is still some other procedures to be in that service.

Oh heavens, no. You are NOT signing up for military service at all. You will not hear from them again, and it will make no impact on your life, unless the country institutes a draft again. We have not had a draft since the 70s, and our military now is "all volunteer." The likelihood of us going back to a mandatory draft again is very slim, but the government still keeps a list of "all eligible males" just in case. That is the registration.

AOS for my husband
