Im going to file In Sept. 2012 for the k-1 for my fiancee from the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. I have a part time job and welfare assistance. Will that affect me in anyway or do I need a cosigner sych as my sister who is an RN here in Ny.?....we have a 1 yr old son together does that help me any?.... Please help mom in distress.

You receiving means tested benefits is fine for the USC petitioner. It's the beneficiary that can not get them. Being that you are getting means tested benefits, then you are below poverty level and will need a joint sponsor. As long as your joint sponsor makes above 125% of the poverty level for her household size (including the intending immigrant) you should not have any problems.

This is the poverty guidelines form you should refer to: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

If your income without assistance is below 125%, you need a cosponsor.

Hello!

Having a child with him is a good indicator of a relationship. Being on public asistance might be a negative. I would go the route of the sponsor to be safe.
