So here is my brief review of our interview today: in and out in 30 minutes and APPROVED! (or recommended for approval, this is their wording these days, I hope the final decision will be the same)

...

Still no word on EAD, too. Is it even necessary when you have a GC in hand?

I wish good luck to all of you and happy ending to your AOS journeys!

Congratulations. You should receive your GC soon and you would not need the EAD.

So here is my brief review of our interview today: in and out in 30 minutes and APPROVED! (or recommended for approval, this is their wording these days, I hope the final decision will be the same)

We arrived 10 minutes before the scheduled interview, went throught security, registered our interview letter. There were around 30 people and lots of lawyers in the waiting area. I got prepared for a long wait and brought some National Geographic issues. As I was about to start reading, my name was called. Me and my husband followed our interviewer who never introduced himself for some reason. We swore oaths, then ast down. They guy was looking through our papers, asked for our IDs. Then asked how and when we met, when we started living together, how our relationship evolved. The answers to these questions were written down in a form by him. He also asked about my husband's brother occupation (he wrote an affidavit for us), why we moved to Chicago, how life in Portland was. That's pretty much it. He put the approved stamp on our I-130 after like three minutes of the interview. Then he proceeded to I-485 questions about arrests, affiliations with terrorism, etc. Then he asked if I have additional evidence of our marriage, which I provided. He took all 50+ pictures that I have brought, too. A huge pile of other documents, copies and originals, were never used or asked for, as he was referring to the documents submitted in our AOS application. He took an additiional look at my J-1 visa and then said that he would recommend us for approval (that his decision needs to be approved by his supervisor) and that if approved I should expect a GC within 2 months or even 2 weeks.

So this is it. Now I'm just waiting anxiously for the updated status that we were indeed approved.

By the way, we never prepared for the interview. Just brought all the papers which in our case were barely used.

Still no word on EAD, too. Is it even necessary when you have a GC in hand?

I wish good luck to all of you and happy ending to your AOS journeys!
