Hi, I checked your signature. How do you know when you're eligible for ROC?

You are eligible to file for ROC 90 days prior the expiration of your GC.

In my case, my GC expires June 14th 2014 and June 14th is the 165th day of the year. So 165 - 90 (days) equals (day) 75, which is March 16th 2014.

Background Information

-Dec 2006: Arrived with an F1 visa

-Dec 2007: Met USC.

-Dec 2009: Got Engaged.

-Jan 2010: Fell out of Status.

-Oct 2010: Married USC.

-Feb 2012: Filed I-130/AOS

Why pull the old summary without the update? it leads to confusion.

ROC means Removal Of Condition.

If you obtain a GC through marriage but you haven't been married yet for 2 years, you get a two years conditional green card. 90 days before the expiration of that card, you can apply to remove the condition and get a 10 years GC. All green cards have an expiration date.

What old summary? It's just what I grabbed to quote. Been gone from a looong vacation without any internet nor phone so am not really that up to date. sorry if anyone is confused.

I see. I guess I'll be needing an ROC then. Sigh.. more paper processes.. So do you also know how long it takes to be a citizen? Does it start counting from the date you get your greencard or from the time you arrived in US for whatever purpose?

Yes, your eligibility to become a citizen depends on the day you obtain your GC:

1) 3 years after the GC if you're still married to the USC

2) 5 years after the GC if you're no longer married to the USC

Today is day 60 of our journey. So far, the only real milestone we've reached is that we did my wife's biometrics on June 8, 32 days ago.

Other than that, no other communication at all with the exception of the RFE we received about 2 1/2 weeks ago on our I-485. We've sent the requested evidence in, but I'm really wanting to hear something on her EAD, because that will open many doors for us.

At this point, all of our petitions except for the I-485 have 5/23/2012 as the last updated information. :(

Day67-- 07/05/2012 Second email notification for EAD/AP card in production

Day68-- 07/06/2012 EAD/AP mailed.

Day71-- 07/09/2012 EAD/AP in hand!!!

Day71-- 07/09/2012 Applied for SSN.

Day76-- 07/14/2012 SSN in mail.

Day79-- 07/17/2012 Interview!!!!!

Day79-- 07/17/2012 Approved!!!

Day82-- 07/20/2012 Welcome letter received!!!

Day82-- 07/20/2012 Green card production ordered.

Day85-- 07/23/2012 Green card mailed and picked up by USPS.

Day87-- 07/25/2012 Green card in hand.
