A friend has just called me saying she has got an e mail from South Africa telling her se has won a rather large ...nope ...HUGE ammount of money . Apparently businesses and email addresses were picked at random and lottery numbers allocated to those addresses and she's got all the numbers ??? It's supposed to promote the SA 2010 World Cup Bid....I think , if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Anyone out there heard of this world wide random lottery thing ?

Sounds like a rip off to me, you don't get anything for nothing. I would be very careful if they ask to call a number or pay money to get more money or to cash a check to cover the taxes. These are all known rip-offs. My wife just received a real check for a considerable amount of money so when we researched it we found out it was a big scam and if she would have cashed the check she could have been arrested. BE CAREFUL

I've seen more than one of these in my email account's "spam" box; it rates by "points"--and these lottery posts usually are triple to hextuple the required rating for "Bayesian scam".
