applying for social security card

I was wondering if "we" AOS filers can apply for a social security card even tho we have not received our EAD yet ?

:unsure:

just asking cuz i am browsing forums and I am seeing some ppl have :blink:

unless I maybe interpreting it wrongly :wacko:

March 19th - received NOA

April 13th - Biometrics

May 03rd - notified of interview (06/13/2012)

May 06th - received interview letter in mail

May 11th - received notification of EAD card in production

May 19th - EAD in hand

May 23rd - Applied for SSC

May 29th - Received social security card in mail (card in hand)

June 13th - Interview (approved on the spot)

June 13th - got notification of approval

June 18th - Card in production (also received welcome letter in mail)

June 21st - Green Card in hand

End of this journey....

You can apply for a SSC 2 weeks after entry to the USA on a K-1 visa.

As long as the I-94 is valid and has more than a month left you should be able to still get your SSC if not you have to now wait for your EAD.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

As long as the I-94 is valid and has more than a month left you should be able to still get your SSC if not you have to now wait for your EAD.

ahhhh I see! gotcha! sadly I did not ... so I guess I have to wait for my EAD...

I did not come on a K-1 visa tho...I got married to a citizen while I was here waiting on my "stuff" to go thru... *sigh* its only been one month but its been a long month.. really appreciate ur response nonetheless

We did this and I was given a SSC :thumbs:

In your situation you cannot get a SSN until you have EAD.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
