First of all, congratulations to those who already had their interviews and got approved!

One question: How long does it take from the biometrics appointment to the change of online status, and by this I mean being placed in line for an interview? Is online status reliable? I am a July filler but have been following other threads and noticed that some people get their interview letters pretty fast (10-14 days), while the usual period is 1 month. I am just really really curious (and apparently impatient) and would really love to know how does this work.

The USCIS is not particularly consistent or efficient. Some field offices are really quick (e.g. North Carolina) and some are really slow (like New York City). It really depends on their case load (NYC probably has a really heavy case load as it draws a lot of immigrants). I've been waiting six weeks for my interview letter, but others who filed in May are citizens already. Some field offices update the online status, others don't. Anticipate that if you live in a city that draws a lot of immigrants, e.g. New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, the process will take a lot longer than in cities that don't attract as many immigrants.

At the end I was given a N-652 with the box "Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval" checked. I was told that I should be getting my Oath scheduling letter soon.

I was asked to write "The President lives in the White House."

The civics questions were:

Who was the first President?
Who is the governor of California?
Name two national holidays.
What is the promise that you give when you become a citizen?
What movement tried to end racial discrimination?
Where is the Statue of Liberty?

Had my interview today in San Francisco office. Was very quick and efficient, about 15-20 minutes long. Immigration officer attitude was very professional and pleasant. At the end I was given a N-652 with the box "Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval" checked. I was told that I should be getting my Oath scheduling letter soon.

I was asked to write "The President lives in the White House."

The civics questions were:

Who was the first President?

Who is the governor of California?

Name two national holidays.

What is the promise that you give when you become a citizen?

What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

Where is the Statue of Liberty?

I took my Oath today and I am now a proud US Citizen!!!

About 100 people from 30 countries this morning in Dallas. I loved the ceremony.

It was very emotional (at least for me). And I feel like I was born again today.

The whole process to get to this point made me think of what President Reagan once said:

"I, in my own mind, have always thought of America as a place in the divine scheme of things that was set aside as a promised land. It was set here and the price of admission was very simple: the means of selection was very simple as to how this land should be populated. Any place in the world and any person from those places; any person with the courage, with the desire to tear up their roots, to strive for freedom, to attempt and dare to live in a strange and foreign place, to travel halfway across the world was welcome here."

MY HUSBAND PASSED HIS INTERVIEW!!!!! :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance:

His appointment was at 1:00. We went in around 12:15, he got called at 12:25. He went in took oath and was asked 6 questions(will list at the end) and was asked to write a sentence. Afterwards the lady went over the N400 and asked for his tax returns or tax transcripts. She asked for my passport as proof that i am a USC for past 3 years, she ask for his green card and ID. and she asked for proof that we are still married. my husband had numerous documents (insurance, letters with same name and address, car loan, home loan, etc. When she saw my sons birth certificate she was like I AM SATISFIED NOW THAT YOU GUYS ARE MARRIED. After that she just gave him a slip which said "Approved" and then we waited about 2hours in the waiting room for the oath letter which is next Wednesday August 29th. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

He was asked to read: What are the colors of the flag?

I think the processing for January means they've probably finished all the cases from December. If your case is unexceptional, meaning you have three/five years from GC, no convictions or significant absences, you'll probably get scheduled soon. I am working on the basis that my case is unexceptional, my NOA date is 5/17, so I'll probably get my interview letter a week after Rainbow007 who has a NOA date of 5/11/2012. I also anticipate that Olala will get his/her letter just before me, because while I filed a day earlier my NOA date (priority date) is a day later. Of course, while I think my case is unexceptional, USCIS might have a different view.

Well, BKMatthew, the line is slow, but it's moving. Got my letter today. Expect to receive one soon!
