I just rseved e-mail from Consular Chief U.S. Embassy on B2 nonimmigrant interview

He/she told me this

..."She did not demonstrate strong enough social and economic ties to qualify for issuance of a nonimmigrant visa."

How can some one demonstrate strong enough social ties? What are social ties?

Social ties would be immediate family. Leaving behind underage children or a spouse in the other country that she must return to.

However, one cannot point to a spouse or children and then claim instant qualification for a B2 visa....it is not that simple. The main point of section 214b is that the applicant, already presumed to be an intending immigrant by law, must convince the VO otherwise...but there are NO specific bright line requirements one could present or claim that do the trick.

Basically the letter states that the applicant did not convince the VO that whatever social/economic ties the applicant had were not sufficient enough, in the VO's opinion (the only one that counts!), that would guarantee the return of said applicant to his/her country of residence after visiting the US.

Notice the letter did NOT specify what documents or other items she might bring to a subsequent interview.

I agree with both Inky and Noah here. Inky gave you an example of what could constitute a social tie, and Noah made the point that there are no specific bright line requirement. Different consulates have different requirements, and cases are decided on individually.

Basically, the more the better, and the better it all comes together, the better.

Anyone applying for a non-immigrant visa is always automatically presumed to be an intending immigrant, and it's up to the applicant to demonstrate sufficiently that they do intend to return.

There is no list of documents or evidence that you can present to "prove" the ties. The presumption by law is that you intend to illegally immigrate to the USA. It is the sole discretion of the interviewing officer. My MIL provided a mountain of written evidence at the first interview and the officer did not even look at it. He said "denied" as he was pre-stamping denial letters for the applicants who followed us.
