You guys will be fine. It's a common belief that they have already made their decision even before you arrive. They have done their background information on both petitioner and beneficiary. I remember my interview like it was yesterday; as soon as we stepped to the booth and seen the CO looking through our file he smiled and swore us in and in a few minutes we we approved. It's really quick. They seems to me that they already know your fate; unless you are missing a document or two or you just get extra nervous during questioning things should go smoothly. The "waiting" and the "uncertainty" is what's scary. Your anxiety will only increase as the interview date approaches. I know the feeling! Uh :(

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

This is true, the decision is mostly already made before the interview begins. Not 100%, your answers to the CO's question still need to be on point and all that. You should be able to know if your relationship has any red flags, if so, be prepared to be asked about these red flags. If you guys have been living together I think your chances will be very good. Make sure you bring proof of this!! Along with other evidence of your relationship. Don't be afraid to bring anything and everything. Better safe than sorry!

After approval, the visa is usually delivered (you can also opt to pick it up at the consulate if that works for you) in less than a week it seems. Sometimes it takes longer. Honestly, you really never know, so I would suggest not to make any travel arrangements till you have the visa in hand.

Our interview is May 4th, I am extremely nervous as well. The only thing I can do is go prepared and leave it up to God. :blush:

Best of Luck! :star:

I honestly feel the same as you do but the only difference is that it is worse for me because our interview date is in 4 days. I am bringing with me everything that I could find for evidence whether they look st it or not I know that I was as prepared as I could have possibly been. As Steph said the rest is up to God. If they have truly made up their minds before the interview then I hope that we are approved already. I have had no RFE(s) or any problem so far so I am praying that is a good thing. I am leaving for D.R. in 2 days and once I get there my fiance and I will be practicing those questions all the way up to the interview. I don't want to leave any stone unturned. Continue to talk to all the GREAT people here in the D.R. crew because they are who have kept me calm and also kept me from making some pretty common mistakes. We all are really close and we are all willing to help in whatever way that we possibly can to get you to and through your big day. :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: I am praying for a smooth interview for you and that your nerves are calmed more and more. Good luck and God bless.

Have interview May 21 in Santo domingo D.R. Have been married since dec 8 2010 and have spent 3 winters with her and her son in Santiago. How long before visa is issued after interview and what are the chances any it will be denied or delayed.

Hi,

My interview for K-1 visa is May 3! Like you, I am extremely anxious and nervous...but I think this is normal. If you weren't THEN ypu should worry. It only means that this is a very important matter in you life. What sucks is that it is in the hands of total strangers looking at snapshots of your relationship!!!

What I have been telling myself for the past few weeks is this is what I want, I love him, he loves me no doubt about it and nothing and no one will stand in the way of that! You can deny our visa but you can't deny our LOVE!

I'm leaving May 1 to SD with a positive mindset...nothing will steal my joy or the promise....I will conquer my anxieties and nervousness because God didn't give me the spirit of fear, but that of courage and victory in all things!

Just believe in your love and hold tight to the knowledge that God will NEVER let you down!

Stay strong and good luck!

My interview is on May 14th. So like you, I am also hoping that we receive the Visa in less than a week, so my Fiancee and daughter can come back to the states with me! I strongly recommend everyone here to opt for pickup of their visas, (unless it is better for you to have it delivered to your home).

But there are certain risks with having it delivered to your home, apart from taking too long, there is always the chance it might never reach its destination! So to be safe (and quick about it) I would certainly pick it up at their office. My daughter's American passport was suppose to arrive in a month.

I opted for pickup, and received the passport in exactly 8 days. The Visa usually arrives in 2 weeks (if there isn't any problems) or longer if there are problems. If you opt for pick of the visa, you can most likely have it in your hands within 3 or 4 days.

I want to wish everyone the BEST and all of the luck in this universe on their upcoming interviews. We will all get approved! :dance::dance::dance:

I don't think you can pick it up at the consulate. You have to go to the central office of Domex, which is in the capital. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Good option. After you pay the Domex fee in the consulate. When you go back home, there is a number for the central office on the receipt that Domex gives you. So as soon as you get home, call that number and ask for the package to be retained so you can pick it up once it comes. I found out that my daughter's passport had arrived at their office through the tracking number on their website. (Even though I asked them to call me, they never did) So every day go to their website, insert your tracking number, and you'll find out what's going on with your package. Good luck!
