I have applied for a K-1 Visa for my fiance currently finishing her masters in Cairo. Any information, thoughts, suggestions, or insights to the process going through Cairo would be extremely helpful. Honestly, I thought this whole thing was going to be a breeze, but within the past 24 hours it is as if this massive weight has crushed down upon my entire being. We have been engaged for nearly 3 years and I can not imagine pushing back our wedding any further. The I-129F has not even been approved, but when it is I want to be able to move through the following steps as quickly as possible. Help??

Be sure to check out the regional forum also, found here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/97-middle-east-and-north-africa/

My only advice to you at this point is do not set a firm date for the wedding. Also fill out your time line so people can see where you are in the process it will really help people to help you.

When did you submit your petition?

I sent my Petition in December 2, 2011, but due to an error in address and they also spelled my name wrong it was not finally approved until December 28. I will update my time line, even though I am at the very beginning. Thank you!

There are lots of experienced Egypt members here who will give you all the good inside consulate information. I'm not sure how the service centers are processing now but you likely have a couple of months to get prepared and it's never too early to do that.

Be sure to check out the MENA forum to start educating yourself on the Cairo consulate.

Good luck and welcome to VJ!

Will do. We have already started preparing for the upcoming process, I simply want to do it correctly and only once:).

NOA2 is a 4 - 6 month wait. From our NOA1 to receiving the NOA2 was 174 days, from NOA 2 to interview date was 119 and from the initial filing date to receiving to the interview was 299 days, add another 10 days for receiving the K-1 Visa for a total of 309 days. Ours could be alittle more or less than other couples from Egypt. You can check out the Immigration Timelines at the top of the page in Blue. Make sure to fill in your Timeline so you will be able to view the estimated time you will receive your NOA2, our Timeline estimate was correct.Below you can view our timeline. Good luck!

Good point! Good advise. PLease gather EVERY POSSIBLE HINT OF EVIDENCE. Egypt is a high fraud country and the embassy scrutinizes diligently. Please save all of your trip receipts and bank statements, passport stamps, etc. Get photos with her family and friends. I mean, make sure you can proof beyond unreasonable doubt she is your love.

Good luck.

My fiance is in Egypt too, the petition I-129F has been approved, and forwarded to the consulate, I have the letter of employment, letter from the bank with all the info they are asking, I have the Affidavit of Support ready, my question is: where I have to send all this papers, do I have to send it to Vermont Service Center or do I have to send everything to my fiance in Egypt?

The phone number of the consulate in Cairo does not work, in their website says 20 2 2797 3300, many many rings, no answer.

In this case I am the petitioner, the consulate will send the packet 3 to my fiance in Egypt, right?, but me (as a petiotioner) what I have to do now?, the form I-134, letter of the bank, income tax return, etc, what I have to do with all those papers?, do I have to send it to my fiance in Egypt?

Thanks for your reply!, I am very confused and nervous, I want to do everything right.
