devilette,

You really should break that habit. Maybe there's some gum or a patch, or try hypnosis.

damn. In my excitement I read the US citizen's BC as the foreign one. .... I post when I get too excited & haven't read it all.

I can't! :crying:

I am just too anxious to post helpful links. Only lately they've been wrong. :P

I started the idea of updating the guides (we badly needed it), the Cap'n ignored my idea about including the beneficiary's BC...hiopefully he will put it back in. We've seen a lot of RFEs for BCs lately.

I've got a nasty feeling we've got this RFE on the way. I'm hoping with such a low-risk country like Canada, they might not be in need of it. But...well...either way, we've got his Canadian long-form certificate on the way.

:star: Cass (bebop the great)

I've got the exact same feeling as you, Cass-- My guy has a very very common name, and it's making me scared that I'll get that dreaded RFE email soon. Let's hope we're both wrong!

I had my BC + translation from french ready when we sent the K-1. So I included it. I told myself better to have too much than not enough...

They are really gonna start making people more paranoiac with all their RFE's...

heishe,

It's something that's quite old, actually, quite frequent at the CSC. (Sure enough, our OP is dealing with the CSC.) Frequent enough that not all that long ago it was common to advise that the beneficiary's birth certificate be included with the petition as a preventive measure.

I guess that advice has been forgotten, and should be resurrected.

Yodrak

A lot of people have been getting a beneficiary birth certificate RFE lately.. is this some kinda new rule? A disturbing trend, at least!

YUCK! One more thing to worry about because we did not send in the beneficiary's birth certificate. sigh

Thanks for the update Yodrak!

Yes, I had mentioned in another thread I thought it might be helpful to at least list this as an *option* for the beneficiary's birth certificate (long form with both parents shown and translated if not in English), but the idea was pretty much pooh-poohed.

In the past (when we were submitting our documents a couple of years ago) it had happened often enough that I sent David's BC in with our I-129F, especially since he has a common name. I don't know if I would have received an RFE had it not been included but if it can be avoided from the start, why not let each VJ member make their own decision about that?
