I have a point of entry question. My fiance's airline itinerary takes her to New York JFK and then on to Florida. Does she go through passport/visa control at JFK or Orlando? She has a 2.5 hour layover at JFK. If she has passport control there. will she have time to make her next flight which is in a different terminal? I appreciate any help...

Her POE will be JFK. She will have passport and visa control there. I would say 2.5 hours is enough but JFK is a busy airport and visa control/change of terminal can take time... You can read reviews of other members who had JFK as their POE, it may help you answer this question.

Yes JFK is her POE and 2.5 hour layover should be fine. My wife and son went through there last fall and were done with passport control(they have their GCs) in less than an hour. Figure about an hour or so, depending on what day of the week and what time she gets there.

if her flight to JFK is on time she might be fine but you should always allow extra time for things like that! I flew to America 3 times last year and 3 out of 3 my flights were delayed 2-3 hours. Good luck!

POE will be JFK. 2.5 hours is pushing it at JFK and I prefer 4 hours. If she is held up by customs they will put her on the next flight for no extra charge PROVIDED the airline itimnerary was scheduled that way. If YOU booked two separate flights, no they will not, but they will usually allow you on the next plane as a stand by for little difference in price.

2.5 hours in JFK it is a little bit of a pushing. I am a USC, and allowing extra time for myself if I fly thru JFK. Also if your fiancee is flying on Aerosvit, they usually late by at least 1.5 hour. I would explore the possibilities changing the JFK to ORL flight to a later time if possible.

 <---- Re: Aerosvit. Yeah, my experience also.

I HAVE gotten through JFK customs in under an hour and it has taken up to 2.5 hours JUST for customs and then you have to switch terminals and gates. That's why I say 4 hours.
