Hello,

I have a quick question on the ds-230 form. It's question 31a. Person(s) named in 14 and 29 who will accompany you to the United States now. I am not sure what to put here. I am listed in question 14 but I am a USC. Is the question asking am I escorting my wife here or am I accompaning her as an immugrant? Thank you for any help.

yes, its asking you if you are going to go there and get her, then bring her back so she doesnt have to come by herself.

Accompany in this sense on this form means "immigrating with". In this case, you're the USC, so the answer for that question is 'none'.

yes, its asking you if you are going to go there and get her, then bring her back so she doesnt have to come by herself.

Nope, it doesn't. It means immigrating with, not travelling with.

usually this is for children or relatives who 'are immigrating' at the same time.

A uscitizen doesn't immigrate from China to USA, even if'n yer an expat - it just isn't done.

So, make sure yer not listed to be immigrating - the security goons at the POE will want to talk with you, a bit more.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
