Definitely don't send the IV package until the IV fee has been paid and appears as such in the payment portal. If NVC receives a package before the bill clears, it can cause delays. Plus, you don't even have the bar-coded cover sheet, so there's no way you can send it.

Hmm, good question. I'd say if it appears, pay it. Won't hurt. If it does appear, and it clears, make sure you bring the receipt to the interview so they know you paid it, so you don't pay the IV fee twice.

That was kind of my thought. Maybe if I see it I should take a moment and call NVC quickly for their advice?

Question....does the employment letter I send to the NVC be the original? Or should I save the original for myself and send the copy?

Also, my dad is joint sponsor, he is self employed and way over the threshold for poverty line requirements. He wrote a self-employment letter and will send in tax transcripts, but he doesn't have paystubs. Do you all think that will be fine? He doesn't pay himself regularly, so that why he doesn't have them.

What do you think?

Timeline:

Nov. 2008 - met my husband in Chile

May 2011 - engaged

Dec. 2011 - married

Feb. 20, 2012 - sent in I-130 packet from abroad

March 3, 2012 - NOA1

March 14, 2012 - NOA2

March 21, 2012 - NVC Received

April 4, 2012 - NVC Case Number Received

April 9, 2012 - AOS bill Paid

April 12(ish) - IV bill Paid

June 11, 2012 - AOS and IV packages received by NVC

June 18, 2012 - Checklist received from NVC (to send forms that I am not even supposed to have!)

June 20, 2012 - IV packet approved

June 26, 2012 - AOS Checklist response sent

July 18, 2012 - Case complete

August 23, 2012 - Medical Appointment

September 26, 2012 - Interview - supposedly approved but put on Administrative Processing :-(

October 18, 2021 - Received Visa

Dec. 13, 2012 - POE at Miami

Dec. 20, 2012 - received Social Security Card

Jan. 3, 2013 - received Greencard

I'd suggest sending the original to NVC and keeping a copy for your records.

And pay stubs are optional, so that's fine if your dad doesn't have any.

yes Saylin, i was just reading through and getting paranoid and scared.. so i just wanted to know

Well, it does happen. Very often in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries. In some of those places, AP is mandatory for background checks. Now, for Trinidad, I don't know. You'd have to look at fellow timeline's to get an idea. For Canada, excluding those born in MENA countries that are put through background checks, it's extremely rare to be put into AP.
