I am moving to new jersey.

The Vienna Convention on Road Traffic has been ratified by 70 countries.

The main regulations about driving licenses are in Annex 6 (domestic driving permit) and Annex 7 (international driving permit).

Following article 41:

Contracting Parties shall recognize:

(a) Any domestic driver's license drawn up in their national language or in one of their national languages, or, if not drawn up in such a language, accompanied by a certified translation;

(b) Any domestic driver's license conforming to the provisions of Annex 4 to the Convention; and

© Any international driver's license conforming to the provisions of Annex 7 to the Convention, as valid for driving in their territories a vehicle coming within the categories covered by domestic driver's license, provided that the license is still valid and that it was issued by another Contracting Party or subdivision thereof or by an association duly answered thereto by such other Contracting Party. The provisions of this paragraph shall not apply to learner-driver permits.

In English means: your Haiti Drivers license is valid until it expires. :thumbs:

After you have a SSN you can apply for a New Jersey license. Hopefully the baby is either already here or close to it. If you can't get a NJ license right away, don't sweat it. According to the Vienna Convention yours is valid until it expires.

PS, You'll need to take the written, driving and vision tests all over again. Might want to look for a NJ driver's hand book and study!

I don't even think you need a social security number to get a license. Usually, you just need proof of residence in that state, proof of your identity, and proof of your legal status in the US, which is just your passport with the validated CR-1 visa.

Maybe not, that would be even better news!

I know in Tennessee, my husband has to wait for a SSN, show his valid visa and take all the tests over again, and take a certified US motorcycle safety course to get his motorcycle endorsement. They will not take his Canadian one.
