Tulsa Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of an elderly woman on Wednesday.

19-year old Tyrone Woodfork was arrested Thursday evening after police served search warrants and recovered evidence at several locations.

Court records show he faces charges of first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of robbery with a firearm.

He's jailed without bond.

Woodfork was one of four people found in or around a car which had been reported stolen from the home of the victims, 90-year old Bob Strait and his wife 85-year old Nancy Strait.

They were brutally beaten in a home invasion some time Wednesday morning.

Relatives discovered the bloody scene in the 3300 block of East Virgin Street about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say Nancy Strait died Thursday evening at St. John Medical Center.

Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley says a citizen spotted the car about 1:30 p.m. Thursday near East 4th Street and South Yale Avenue.

The man followed the car, phoning police to report its location.

Woodfork, two other men and a woman were detained for questioning.

Tulsa Police Detective Dave Walker tells KRMG the other three people were not charged in the Strait case.

The car eventually drove to a duplex in the 5700 block of East Easton Street where police took three men and a woman into custody, including Woodfork.

Elderly couple severely beaten during home invasion in Tulsa

UPDATE: Police have released the description of the vehicle believed stolen from the scene of a home invasion in which an elderly couple were severely beaten.

They originally thought is was a Plymouth Breeze.

Now, officers say the car is a 2001 Dodge Neon that is rust colored with Oklahoma tag 402 GCV.

Capt. Dave Roberts tells KRMG the male victim in the attack has regained consciousness, but had no further update on the victims' conditions.

We're told the couple's relatives went to the home a little before 4:30pm in the 3300 of East Virgin, near Harvard and Apache.

Police say the man is 90 years old and the woman is 85 years old.

EMSA treated the couple at the scene and then transported them by ambulance in critical condition.

Police say it appears some items were taken from the home and they believe a vehicle was stolen as well.

Neighbors tell KRMG the couple had lived in the home for many years and were well-known in the neighborhood.

They were both homebound and neighbors said the brutality of the assault would have been completely unnecessary.

"They wouldn't have fought, they would have given (their attackers) anything they wanted," one neighbor said.

Both victims were taken to St. John Medical Center.

Detectives and uniformed officers fanned out in the neighborhood, canvassing for information.

One officer told KRMG, "This situation is all hands on deck." He added, "Most of us get in this business to protect kids and old folks."

One of the realities to consider is how "The greatest generation" failed at home.

Think about it.

Most of these 20 something vets came back home in 1945, twenty years later when they were at the age to have the most political and social power (1965-70) they stood by and let a minority of people (Leftists and the shock troops, hippies) carry out a Cultural revolution from which this country has continued to sink under.

(and from which there is no way back)

They fought big over reaching Gov't abroad but at home, they watched it grow and if they did not support it, they sat by and did little to resist it.

They allowed everything from Immigration (1965) to be hi-jacked to the long history of prayer in school to be banned.

They were hood winked by Johnsons GREAT SOCIETY and quiet as a mouse they allowed the Supreme Court to usurp states powers and to swing the country onto such a leftward tilt it took decades to start the process of undoing it. Gun control, Death penalty, Business owners rights, Abortion on demand, School prayer. Loop holes for the criminal... incorporating the Bill or Rights to apply to the States .. which it was never the intended to be so.

Colleges and Gov't buildings were over taken, bombed and burned by an identifiable mob, why did the Greatest generation liberate their own public places?

Public Universities were paying tax dollars to Marxist to promote insurrection at home via their kids.... WHo resisted?

If the first Generation valued freedom so much, why did they sit back and allow some citizens to be denied even the right to vote?

One can't help but admire their achievement both in the battle field and in every supporting roll especially industry but

But can they really say they left the next generation a better American than they inherited?

The legacy of the WW2 generation has to include more than the 5 year period of war.
