Hi!! I just wanted to know if contacting a congressman or a senator would help? I don't understand how it would speed things up and how do you contact a congressman or a senator anyways? lol I'm just curious though but your responses would truly be appreciated. Thanks! :)

If you have been waiting over the expected period of time "5 months" then you can contact your congressmen to find out why your petition is taking so long. Most people say that they wont do anything till around 6 months.

Yor way to early to even worry about that for now. But, the scenerio is: 6 months. If you call before that time period the response from your Congressman is that USCIS well pass-on you are in Normal Time-Guildlines. Be aware an RFE can change that. So I suggest; Avoid Tidal Waves. Your fine for now.

Your way to early to worry much less Contact a Congressman. Your Timeline indicates 3 months 2 weeks. Not 5 or 6 months.

Additionally: People always jump to calling a Congressman. You don't need one, they have no control over USCIS.

What yourself and/or your Congressman is doing is simply asking for a Service Request to pull and review your File/Petition. You don't need a Tier 2 Representitive to do this as well. You just call.

Be alittle more patient for now.

I contacted my congressman, both senators and even sent letters to the state department about two months into waiting for the NOA2. Look at my timeline and look how my interview got way delayed. I think I ticked somebody off. When I contacted those same offices to try and expedite the interview at the Embassy they all submitted my request for an expedited interview and they all got declined.

LESSON LEARNED: If you want to use your elected officials to help expedite your petition, save your energy. If you want to get on a first name basis with the Constituent Services Director at each of their offices and get on fundraiser mailing lists during the next election cycle, then feel free to contact them all.

I would advise you to contact your local congressman only after the allotted waiting time has passed for your case at that particular Service Center. I contacted my local congressman after the 5-month mark and they helped expedite my case. If you try to expedite your case via your Congressman, not much will happen.

Just wait.

6 months, 5 days from NOA1 to NOA2; No RFE's.

Contacted local congressman to help expedite case at VSC for NOA2. (Definitely helped!)

Contact me if you need any info on a K-1 Visa for India, more than happy to help.

I think it depends on the situation. A waiting period is a waiting period. Its tough to feel like you are sitting on your hands but there will be an end. Just be patient, its crazy how soon your forget about it once its over.

Contacting your elected officials can make a big difference when the process goes awry. So save it for then.
