what is NOA1? we never received any ting like this

Its a Notice of Action,a document they send you after they have received your petition.

If you don't have that..maybe you should call them!

Have you registered for an e-mail notice?

7 months!!! :o August 2011!! :o NOA1 notification letter usually comes in the mail in 2-3 weeks.. You should call USCIS and check on you status immediately. Do not re-file!! Call first.. If you re-file and they have your petition. You will waste $340 on new petition.

How was the filing fee paid?

If paid by check, has the check been processed by the bank? If paid by other means, check with the issuing institution that the funds were deposited with USCIS.

How was the petition sent? Do you have confirmation that the petition was delivered and received by USCIS?

Good luck.

Yes - the cashing of the cheque would confirm that they had received the petition. Did you send a personal check?

You REALLY need to call and check on your case. In my personal experience, I received notification from them that they had recieved my petition within a week of my having sent it to them. Then it took about a month to be able to check my case status online.
