Question about seeing civil surgeon

Hi, I'm the USC, and I have a question. My fiance of course will need to see a civil surgeon (doctor who works with USCIS) when he gets here, but I'm completely clueless as to whether he can see this doctor before our marriage of if we need to wait until after. Thanks in advance for the help!

you know he only needs to see a civil surgeon if he is missing vaccinations right?? they can be done any time before filing for AOS

hmmmm, for some reason I thought a civil surgeon would need to confirm that he's up to date on all his vaccines before AOS. He does have all the vaccinations he needs, but we were under the impression that a local civil surgeon would need to confirm this. Thanks for the help!

If all the required vaccinations were complete at the time of his medical, then just send in a copy of his DS-3025. No need to see a civil surgeon in that case.

One note of caution if you do need to have your vaccination records transcribed by a civil surgeon: Some of these will tell you that an entire new medical exam (along with the associated fees/charges) is necessary. This is NOT TRUE. Another medical exam is not required if the one done abroad was done less than 1 year ago. Nevertheless, many civil surgeons will refuse to transcribe the vaccination records and will insist on a whole new exam. Don't let them rip you off! I just kept calling around until I found one who was willing to follow what the law says.
