So in looking at the K1 guide, I have a few questions about the things listed that I should do after receiving the NOA2.

1. I'm supposed to send my fiancee a copy of the petition? I thought the foreign embassy would have my petition already. Why does she need the same documents they already have? I do have a copy ready to send her, I'm just confused as to why she needs it.

2. Why do I need to send another letter of intent? The instructions from the Kiev embassy mention nothing about this. Is this considered on-going relationship proof?

3. Why does all this have to wait until after the NOA2? Can't I fill out the I-134 now and send it to her with the supporting evidence? I want to avoid a situation where she is waiting for paperwork from me to come in the mail to schedule the interview.

Thanks in advance!

1. The embassy will get your petition after it's approved by USCIS. You send your fiancee a copy so she's familiar with everything in it in case she's asked about any of it at the interview.

2. The second letter of intent is basically to let the embassy know that you still intend to marry her. By the time they get your petition, the included letter of intent will be months old.

3. If you just got NOA1 and you send the I-134 and supporting evidence now, it will be months old by the time she submits it. They want to see current, sustained income; 6-month-old paystubs or letters of employment are not the most convincing evidence of that. Send it after NOA2 so it's still fresh.

The Guides are written the way they are for a reason. They represent best practices based on the experience of many, many people who've walked this path before you.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

Thanks! I guess I should just calm down and wait. Sounds like trying to get as much done as possible too early could be detrimental.

It's always good to make a copy of everything that you send to USCIS and the consulate etc. In case something goes wrong or they lose something and just for your own personal records.

My husband sent me a renewed letter of intent to take to my interview too. It wasn't required by the consulate but we figure better to be safe than sorry :)

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

Excellent answers. The secondletter of intent is required by some consulates. Kiev apparently does not require it but it is a piece of paper and a couple signatures and you will be sending or bringing the I-134 anyway...so send one. No harm done if they do not ask for it (they did not ask us for one)

Your fiancee/spouse needs to be well aware of every piece of paper ever presented for any reason. She WILL be asked at some point about something. We slipped through the whole process until citizenship with nary a question and then they asked Alla a lot of questions for citizenship, so at some point, be prepared to "get it"

The police certificate is valid for one year so you could get that now, you can also make sure you have all the originals and copies of her documents. Get her vaccinations done NOW if they are not up to date, get all the vaccination reords ready. Get her school documents and any other documents she will need when she arrives (you don't need school documents for the immigration process, you need them for LIFE after immigration...yest there IS life after immigration!) Get her education evaluated for future use here, there are tns of things to do to prepare.

Save the I-134 for last.

Go to the embassy website for the country that pertains to you, they will have a list of requirements there, that is where the Letter Of Intent would be listed. As for a copy of the petition that is sort of a CYA thing, not a requirement. Your approved petition is transmitted to the embassy both electronically and the package later.

My Own Correction...

I looked this up some time ago from uscis page. however, i just check kiev page and you are right, there is different information pasted below which conflicts with vaccine reqts. I'm happy i read your post and will work on this...

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

(for immigrants only, not for K visa applicants)

Recent changes to US immigration law now require immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations on behalf of immigrant visa applicants are now required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirements, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

mumps

tetanus

influenzae type B (HIB)

influenza

measles

diphtheria

hepatitis B

rubella

toxoids

varicella

polio

pertussis

pneumococcal

Correction again... i was right the first time... the same document does state optional vaccination for K...

"Each applicant must present the following documentation: International passport (for children below age 16 – travel document of a child with photo or a passport of mother/father with a child’s photo) 3 full frontal view photographs 50 x 50 mm Military service card Vaccination chart with the seal of the issuing clinic (mandatory for immigrants, optional for K visa applicants) Embassy case number beginning with KEV"
