My wife and I had the interview a week ago, and at the end the official told me she had to think about my case and that we will receive the answer in the mail in about 2 to 4 weeks, she wrote I-485 pending A#...........CR6 Section 245 signature and date. Have anyone gone through a similar situation?

She was very rude to us, she asked why i have stayed in this country after my visa expired and when i tried to explain, she said do not waste your time trying to explain, it is always the same story one of you come here and send money to seven siblings in your country (i just have one brother hehehe). Then she just kept saying that i should not have stayed.......She did not ask much about our marriage. Like i said she was rude since the beginning until the end of the interview. She said she had to think about our case, but did not say why, that i will receive the answer in about two to four weeks. She wrote on my passport I-485 pending................

That's so wrong of her to say. Which USCIS office was this? How long were you out of status and what visa are you adjusting from? I have an interview coming up soon also. I'm sorry for your situation, I know how nerve wrecking this whole process is. Did you bring enough proof of bonafide marriage docs?

Another thing i forgot to tell you is that she said the people like me come here to take the jobs of the americans, that is the reason why unemployment was so hi now a days.....She just attacked us.

Thats suck, sorry to hear u had to go thru this:( What visa did you come here on and how long was your overstay? Give us some details please. As far as I know, overstay is forgiven if you are marrying USC. Was there anything else that IO questined you about or had issues withy besides your overstay?

It was in Long Island City, NY. I brought the joining accounts (checking and savings) balances, income tax of 2011, bills, picture (but she did not look them). She complained because we did not have a lease together, we brought a letter of our room mate (she is the one who lease the house) stating that we are living there and how much we are paying.

I came on December 2000 with a visa waiver. But anyway she can not deny my case because of that, because the law allows me to adjust my status since i am married with USC. But the whole interview she complained about that only, she did not ask even one question to my wife.

Wow, looks like she wanted to give you a hard time...:( If there is no other issue you will probably be appsoved shortly. As I've seen in this forum, sometimes the interviewing IO does not have a senior authority to approve the case on the spot, and needs to clear it with their supervisor. That happens a lot even for cases with no issues at all. Just try be patient, I know - waiting is the worst!!!!!!:( If you won't hear from them within week or two, go to your local office for an infopass! Best of luck, keep us updated:)

That's interesting, I also had a female for my interview experience from the same office (it used to be in Garden City), and the person was extremely nice. It goes to show you that it changes from IO to IO. Don't worry about the complaints, she will have to go by the law and not what she wants to do.

Employment based case:

I'm sorry the IO was so rude to you. I had the same thing written in my passport and was told the same thing about waiting 2-4 weeks for a response in the mail. I got a letter a week later, sending me to a stokes interview. I'm not saying this will happen to you, but hope for the best and expect the worst. The reason we were sent to a stokes interview was because my husband submitted the AOS packet with his Georgia ID. He lived in GA but moved to NY years ago and neglected to change his ID(he didn't think it was important :bonk: :bonk: ) . So that, coupled with the fact that his family, kids and ex-wife lives in GA did not sit well with the IO. Mind you that at the AOS interview he had his new NY ID plus lots of documents to show that he does live in NY. Happy to say, my husband and I passed the Stokes in flying colors. Glad that nightmare is over with.

I hope you hear some positive news soon....best of luck :) :)

Hi guys, on February 14th i could see trough the internet that my case was approved. On Saturday 18th i received the welcome to America letter on the mail, and Wednesday February 21 my green card. What I have learned is that every case is different, so the best thing is not start to compare your case with other people's cases. You have to be patient and wait. I know is not easy, but is the best thing to do. As you all can see I had and awful impression after my interview and after 10 days my case was approved, other people had a good impression after their interview and they had to wait for much longer than i did for a decision and some of them had to go to a second interview. So If your marriage is a bonafide one do not worry, sooner or latter you will have your green card.
