Comments : Received RFE in mail on December 12th, 2011. Turns out that medical examination form was a previous outdated edition, and NBC requested to resubmit the report on a new form. Civil surgeon office worker did not check the form (even though I printed the new form from the website, filled out my part and brought it to the medical center, they said that they complete all the forms themselves for patients). They gave me a sealed envelope, and a copy for my own records. Should have checked it 1st, lesson learned:)
Sent the evidence on the 13th of December, received a notice on the 15th - Request for Evidence Response Review status on the website.

Tried to do an early biometric walk-in on Tuesday 12-13-11 in Chula Vista Office. There were a lot of people in the waiting room, and guard could not let me in:( Will try again..

Local US CIS Office Review: San Diego CA

Event Description

Embassy Review : Now it’s my turn to share AOS interview experience with you, guys!!!
Here is what happened to us today at AOS interview in San Diego, CA:
Interview was in downtown SD at the Federal Building scheduled for 12:45. I took a day off of work, and walked to the CIS office from my home (thankfully we live 15min by foot from the place), and was there at 12:30. Hubby was already waiting in front of the building (he came straight from work). We came thru security fairly quick, they just made me take my high-heels off since they kept beeping on metal detector, lol!!

We came into the waiting room, put our Appointment Letter into the tray and set down. The place was pretty much empty, only one family was there 4 Naturalization interview, and 2 ppl 4 infopass. Very calm and chill atmosphere. I was nervous and went to the water fountain to drink some H2O, hubby, on the contrary, was super relaxed!!

We didn\\\'t wait much, a Pilipino mid aged gentleman came out from the backroom, and called my name, and took us inside thru the labyrinth of cubicles to his office space. We took the oath, and IO asked for my passport and our marriage certificate. He looked at his file and asked \\\"what is this in the Middle name field coz it does not match your passport. We said that I took my husband\\\'s name as my middle name when we married. He said \\\"Oh, it does not work this way coz you can only change your name once you apply 4 citizenship\\\". We told him that SD county office was ok with this option, and he replied that \\\"these guys in the county administration do not know much about immigration processes, and that its different\\\". I got scared 4 a second but my hubby stepped in and said that we have submitted all the papers with AOS application to USCIS with the new middle name, and did not get any objection or RFE, and, in fact, immigration sent me EAD card with the new middle name on it (which we had with us). IO checked smth on his computer, and said: \\\"Ok, whats done is done, I guess we just have 2 go with it\\\"

Then he checked my passport and I-94. He got a little confused coz I had a J1 visa in my passport, and the application said I am currently F1. I explained that I changed my status to F1 to transfer to a local university.

Then he looked at my medical form, asked which civil surgeon we used. And after that perosnal questions started:

He asked me how we met. I said: \\\"at work\\\".
- What happened then?

- He asked me out!

- Okay, i see, and then it all started

- How long have u been 2gether b4 u got married?

- 2.5 years.

- is this ur 1st marriage?

- Yes!

After that he questioned my hubby:

- Is this ur 1st marriage?
- No, I\\\'ve been married b4 once
- U divorced in 2001? Was it in the US?
- Yes.
- Who filed 4 divorce and why?
- My wife did. I guess it did not work out. We were too young.

After that he asked each of us how old we were what we had as a proof of marriage. we handed bank account docs, car title, car insurance, zoo membership, Friends Affidavit, cable bills. He asked if parents attended our wedding, and we said no coz they live overseas, but we did have pix with my parents from when they came here last year. He asked us if we have wedding rings on and we showed him.

After that he asked us to take a few pix out of album 4 him to copy. He took them, and went 2 the copy machine, and we overheard him saying to his colleague: \\\"Wow, this guy looks like Kobe Bryant, and at this pic he looks like some other famous person\\\".

He came back and told the same thing to my hubby! (my handsome man!!! And then he said that we look like a celebrity couple! LOL

Finally, he said: \\\"Well, I am taking ur I-94 and EAD, and I\\\'ll explaying why: ur application is approvable, and I will order ur green card production 2day, and u\\\'ll receive it in 2 weeks! U don\\\'t need any EAD or AP or I-94 anymore, no more headache, u just need ur GC 2 work travel and that’s it!\\\"

He asked if we had ??? and gave us a copy of Removal of Conditions paper that all of us signed. Finally, IO escorted us out, and shook our hands goodbye!!

Me & my baby were so excited we dropped all our paperwork in the lobby of the office when we were leaving! lol

2nite we are going out 2 celebrate with some sushi & bubbly!!!YAY!!

Good luck 2 ALL of u, guys!!

P.S: BIG thanks to all, and to the great person/people who established VJ whoever u r, ur awesome!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
